What if in early 2007, Cheney decided that he wasn't yet ready to turn over the reigns (everyone knows he really runs the show) to another administration.  So he hires a team of lawyers to challenge the validity of the 22nd Amendment, which they claim was not properly ratified based upon some legal technicalities.  In one of the most controversial decisions ever, the Supreme Court for the first time in history overturns what everyone had previously believed to be a duly enacted Constitutional Amendment in a 5-4 decision with Justices Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito, and Kennedy siding with the majority.  Justice Scalia, Cheney's old hunting buddy, drafts the majority opinion.  The Democrats try to mount a last ditch effort to have the Amendment re-enacted, but they fail as there simply isn't enough time.  Although the GOP isn't thrilled with Cheney's power grab, the party insiders fall in line, and Bush/Cheney are renominated.  The Democratic primary plays out in the exact same fashion as it did in real life.  What are the results?  Here's my guess:

Popular Vote
Obama 59 %
Bush    39 %
Barr       1%
Others   1%

Electoral Vote
Obama  483
Bush       55

What's your all's take?

Bush would definitely take Nebraska's 3rd district.  And Obama breaking 60 in Kansas?  No way.

Bush may well take Nebraska's third district under this scenario, and the Kansas deal was an error.  When I switched it from Blue to Red, I failed to adjust the percentage.  Of course even with those concessions, this map still doesn't look good for the GOP.  I wish Bush was running for re-election.

No.  FDR wasn't involved in every facet of this scenario.

Oklahoma and Kentucky and Nebraska-3 would have remained Bush states or EVs.

Maybe even TN, SC, Kansas and Nebraska-2 and Nebraska at-large.

Remember that the conservative base would have been mobilized, more than for McCain before Palin's pick.
