Top line, with Obama leading all three. Iowa was taken 8/31-9/2, which means entirely after the Palin announcement but before the RNC. Didn't look at the others but presume the same.

MN: 55%-40%
IA: 53%-41%
OH: 47%-45%

Considering Obama's bounce, Ohio is definitley a state that could help Republicans once again. After all, Obama lost by 10 pts in the "close" primary, and it is a rather conservative state.

CNNs state polls are usually pretty shaky at best. I have a hard time buying Obama is leading Iowa by 13.

If you cite all of the CNN polls together, Obama is doing better in Ohio than he is nationwide.

Of course, CNN's quality of polling...

Obama had no bounce, according to CNN.

Remember that poll you righties were flaunting a few days ago? The one where you guys said "OMG OBAMA GOT NO CONVENTION BOUNCE LOLZ".

That was a CNN poll.

How can CNN have such a close national race but have such ridiculous state numbers?

Something isn't adding up here.

Maybe McCain has 90% of the vote in Texas?

Maybe the state numbers don't make sense in comparison to the national numbers because CNN sucks at polling?

Obama probably has high single-digit leads in MN and IA right now, along with a 3-5 point lead in Ohio.

On the upside it got CNN to get Minnesota and Iowa off of its tossup list.  Minnesota being a tossup, given the polling, is simply ridiculous.

It was ON the toss-up list?

Actually, I think it is probably a reasonable result.

CNN has had Minnesota on the tossup list all year.  Check out the recent "TV Maps" thread on the campaign strategy subforum.

CNN never did well in state polls but that is beside the point.

NO polls are worth a crap right now.  Mason-Dixon wouldn't mean a thing now.  I'll start looking at polls two weeks after the Republican Convention.  Get the convention bumps out of the way.

Its Obama 55-40 in Iowa, 53-41 in MN. Thats what was on TV yesterday and thats how its entered in the state polls section here.

The state makes up 0.2% of the population. It has zero effect on the national numbers. Although I agree that McCain is doing better in Alaska now.
