I'd give this one an A.  It has a cool juxtaposition between the circus-type, light music and the serious topic.  It uses a lot of nice stock McCain-Bush photographs and McCain's claim that he voted for Bush 90% of the time.

The real reason I give it an A though is the timing, this week is probably Obama's best time to run the ad.

An Indy friend mentioned he saw this ad today and liked it; said they should have been doing this from the very beginning. The footage of McCain is excellent.

B+.  Great content, but people are a little desensitized to the Bush/McCain connection thing.

I like it.

As for it's impact? Probably negligible, but it's still a well-done ad.

I think you're overestimating how much undecideds are actually paying attention. As a teacher, I know repetition is dull, but for some it's the only thing that works.

We need more content when we are using the "more of the same" attack line. This ad was a step in the right direction. I especially liked Mccain "smearing" himself. Silly republicans, of course your nominee will be about the same as the predecessor from your party. I just don't see what's so wrong with that. Tongue

As a rule, repetition works if your audience wants to hear it again (i.e. it reinforces, rather than annoys).  Certainly this is the case for the Dem base - the indys and leaners may be more open to it as well, especially if the VP pick really turns into a disaster.  Therefore, this ad is probably a good release right now, regardless of the content.

Oh, I know that's how things are done in politics/advertising.  I just think its not the best line of attack.

The way I see it, Bush's largest failings were related to his intelligence, not his ideology.

B+: good ad, gets its message across, good use of soundbites and images, but tries to cram too much information into 30 seconds and isn't brilliant. Still, props to Obama-Biden for staying on message.

Whoa there stop calling Bush dumb because he certainly is not. He made bad decisions and he stubbornly stuck by them but he is not dumb. Now you can argue that Mccain would have sent more troops to begin with in Iraq and perhaps the situation would be better but we just don't know. And considering the current peace is there only because the sunnis have decided to stop fighting, I don't think 100,000 more troops would have made the situation any better. We are succeeding now because we are understanding the culture and ways of Iraq and we are using that to our advantage. But as we can see invading Iraq was a bad idea to begin with because they did not pose any threat to us. And I know a lot of Americans don't care about this but it has hurt our moral standing abroad. You know as a 10 year old kid in India I looked to America as a peaceful and prosperous country. That feeling was reinforced when I moved here back in 98. Then the 9/11 attacks happened and the country responded and I saw how strong we were. Mind you the whole world was behind us then. After that something curious happened. Some FF's( f***ing fascists) took over the Bush administration and led us into Iraq and you know the rest of the story.

I thought it was a good ad for all the reasons mentioned above. But one thing about it bothered me: the music. I know they were trying to make a farce of McCain but there was just something a bit off about it. I think the light-hearted plonky music is a good idea, just this specific rendition was imperfect. I love nitpicking.

I held out hope for quite some time that Bush was a lot smarter than he let on.

Sorry, but I just can't do it anymore.
