are Jews allowed to vote on Saturdays?

if the answer is 'no' it could be a somewhat minor issue in primary elections

Most Jews aren't religious so it really doesn't matter.

Absentee ballots.

Otherwise, I believe the answer is no.

Yeah, the orthodox Jews do not vote, but the conservatives and reforms usually don't keep Shabbat.

Absentee ballots.

Otherwise, I believe the answer is no.

You are not allowed to work on Shabbat, period, and that includes writing.  One time a very religious Rabbi told me that the orthodox don't even clip their nails, or are not even able to spend money on Shabbat.

I am aware as I am an Orthodox Jew. By absentee ballot I meant we can fill them out beforehand and send them in.

It's part of my normal work week and I am Jewish.  I'm not too worried about it.

Most conservative Jews don't "do" anything other than attend services and even then at much lower rates than Protestants.

Reform Jews go to services on Saturday, but not much else.  Some have a special dinner Friday night, but none of the Reform Jews that I know take the day off.

I would put myself on the cusp of Conservative and Orthodox, Conservadox if you would. It is kinda a complicated mix.

But I've grown up in the Jewish private school setting and can pass as pretty Orthodox if I wanted to.

Most Reform Jews don't go to services regularly. Some do, certainly, but Reform Jews have levels of attendance similar to those of self-declared Anglicans in Britain. Which should come as no surprise.

Most Conservative Jews do attend services. I've known a few who observed Shabbat, but none who were particularly rigorous about it. Usually the interpretation was "no major physical labor" and "no employment", but driving a car, shopping, using a computer, etc. were all fine.

Orthodox Jews usually observe Shabbat strictly.

I'd say orthodox Jews more then just usually keep Shabbat. The most used qualification for an orthodox Jew is 'Shomer Shabbat' - i.e. keeps Shabbat.

I'm even more mixed - I don't keep Kosher, or observe the Sabbath (although I should try to), I'm more focused on Torah than many Reform Jews, I believe in the eventual coming of a Messiah, I always go to services on the High Holy Days, fast on Yom Kippur (and, now, the other fasting days), and I believe, to an extent, the Creatin account in Genesis.

So, I'd probably call myself Reserveadox.

I'm definitely Orthodox, maybe even ultra-orthodox.

I'm referring to local Orthodox Jews, some of whom are "lax", relatively speaking. But bear in mind that this includes children/teenagers in Orthodox families who are often not particularly devout themselves.
