If Bev Perdue wins she will be the first women governor. Do you think she will win?

Well, Jim Hunt and Mike Easley didn't have much trouble winning downticket from Democrats who lost the state, but it's been 16 straight years of Democrats in the Governor's mansion, so people in NC are probably fatigued, especially since Bev Perdue has been Lt. Governor for eight years, and Pat McCrory is a popular mayor and AAGHGHRHGHHGH

Tossup.

She wins very narrowly, by under 2%.

I hope not. There have been a lot of scandals in Raleigh over the past few years, but Easley was very popular. McCrory will have strong support in the Charlotte area, but will it be enough to win the race? We'll see. I think he'd be a very good governor from what I've heard and seen from him. I don't know much about Bev Perdue.

Well as of right now Bev is very strong in the East and Triad and Triangle, also she is only a few points behind in the Mts.

yeah, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. The singular word is WOMAN and the plural is WOMEN.

and yes, there's a good chance NC will see it's first female governor.

Yes, Charlotte mayors have typically done poorly statewide.  Harvey Gantt lost two Senatorial elections (though he was a black man running against Jesse Helms) and Richard Vinroot lost the 2000 gubernatorial race even as Bush carried the state comfortably.  McCrory is a strong mayor - and I will probably vote for him - but I doubt he will be able to convince enough eastern NC Democrats that he's better than Bev Perdue.  In person he comes off as slick and, well, urban.
