You know, in what was suppose to be one of the most historic elections of all time . . . when no incumbants were running for office . . . we're stuck with two rather politically-insignificant candidates from the two dinosaur parties, and a grouping of weak third-party candidates.  Even my bud Steve Adams won't make it on to any of the ballots other than as a write-in.  I'm so disappointed with this year its not funny.  And it's not like I'm NOT going to go to the polls and vote, but other than voting against someone, I don't see anything worth voting FOR.  Why can't I get a candidate that says "Hey, I'm running to manage the country, not to divert it into some unknown realm" or something along those lines.  Just as you wouldn't want someone to take over as the CEO of a food company promising to start making rocket engines, we don't need someone taking over the country promising to turn it into France or Singapore.  "Change" isn't what is needed.  Proper management and cutting off of dead flesh (or in this case, wasteful projects) is what is needed.  THAT would make me vote for them.  No one has even come close to matching that message yet.

Sorry . . . just ranting.

That would be cutting into your own flesh though. Given your line of work.

Given your strong support for the war in Iraq and the fact that McCain loves to talk about cutting pork barrel spending, I guess I'm surprised you aren't strongly in his camp.....care to share some of your objections to him?

Obviously too much change can be a bad thing, but given the state of the economy and of the country in general, you can't blame people for being desperate enough to try just about anything at this point.

I will probably end up voting for him, depending on how VA tilts in one direction or another as we near election day.  As far as objections go, its in the details.  I don't see him being the manager that's needed, spending more time smiling in front of the camera than working to get Congress to act on the important things (and not wasting their time on baseball hearings and so forth).  He just comes across as too soft, and I've seen managers like that get walked all over by those they are suppose to be leading.

Modu...

I've been thinking.  You're in a quandary as to what to do and I think I have the answer.

Buy me something.  Nothing too fancy, but something I can use and enjoy or something I can sell on eBay and make a few bucks on.  Or you can just send cash.

Once you have done this, your head will clear and you will have your answers!

I found this lovely silk teddy that might look good on you.  I buy it, you put it on and post the picture on the Atlas, and then you can do whatever you want with the teddy afterwards.  *dies laughin*

You would think you would have learned that by now after all these years of marriage.  Tongue

If I were you, I'd back McCain. You seem like a "balanced government is good" guy, and I don't think you'll enjoy Barack Obama, who would be the most pro-big government Democratic POTUS such LBJ, dictating the political agenda.

Re: proper management. That's an old GOP staple. McCain will be much more competent than Bush and you agree with him on most issues. I think this should be a slam-dunk for you.

I, too, think you should vote for McCain.  Based on what you have described and what I know of your positions, I think the Big Mac should be your choice.
