A CNN segment on Anderson Cooper 360 July 8 discussing VP picks

On the campaign plane, when asked about VP picks, McCain replied with words to the effect

You don't have to be the best of friends

Does this mean McCain has put Romney right at the top of his list?

Thoughts?

At this point I'm almost completely sure it'll be Romney.

I still think Pawlenty, Crist and even Fiorina are still in the running though.

Of course I, and everyone else, really have no idea whatsoever.

I am 100% sure that Fiorina is not in the running.  Her 20-40 million dollar severance package after presiding over thousands of layoffs is already being attacked because of her mere association with McCain.  It will take *no* work to paint her as an evil CEO.

Although Pawlenty shaved off his signature mullet recently, the fact that McCain's ad buys do not include Minnesota does not send a good signal.

Romney is absolutely still in the running (or at least needs to feel he is still in the running so he'll keep fundraising).

More than likely.  I wonder, if I write-in for VP, does my vote still count normally for President?

It means nothing. Having said that, McCain has a difficult choice to make.

No, it most likely means nothing.  What exactly do you expect McCain to say on this subject?  That he's ruling out anyone who doesn't like personally?  I'm sure that'll fly.

Both McCain and Obama will spout all kinds of high minded b.s. about what's going into their VP selection.  They're never going to publicly divulge the real reasons for their selection.
