Your crude, angry, negative and truly frightening speech yesterday will convince many independents and on-the-fencers in key Northern states (like Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), many of whom are women, to vote for Kerry/Edwards in November.

Thank you so much Zell.

Did anyone catch the looks on the faces of Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel, Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter or Maine senator Olympia Snowe during and after the Miller speech?  They were just shaking their heads.   Priceless.

Go Kerry/Edwards in Ohio!  The key state in the race, and your inching closer!

I was enough to scare moderates off in droves. Rather reactionary and unnecessarily hostile.

The initial reaction was quite positive.

From moderates?  Certainly not the ones we polled this morning.

Yes, from moderates.

You work for a polling company?  I did not know that.

National or local poll?  How did you ID them as moderates, self identifier?

Most importantly, when will this be published?

Next week - reaction to speeches is just one segment of it.  It was regional.  I handle Great Lakes and Rust Belt.

I too would like to extend my thanks to Zell.
Is this the true side of what people are voting for when they vote for Bush?
A rabid foaming at the mouth venemous white male from the south??
I thougth republicans prided themselves based on principle and well rationed reasoning?  Even when using a "democrat" to speak for them.
Maybe they should have tried this one with a focus group of undecided people in NH, PA, OH, WI, MN, IA, MO, NV, NM, WA, and OR?
Let me know what color these are on election night!

Zell was great for Bush. Just watch.

Reagan Dems saw him as a tough Marine, a loyal Democrat, and a man angered that his party wouldn't step up to the plate and protect his family from the threat from terrorism.  They understand his frustration and identify with him.

What the Hell are you people talking about?

Several polling organizations have been conducting focus groups around the country for all the keynote addresses of the RNC.  They all reported that Kerry's favorability went down decisivly during the Miller speech.

Just like the Kerry campaign, all the Dems on the forum can do is attack Miller and try to deface him.  They cannot responde to the charges.

You guys, please keep this up.  Keep defacing the Swift Boat Vets and Zell Miller and Ed Koch and Dick Morris.  Sooner or later, people are going to realize that not all of these people are liars.  When that happens, Kerry is going to be in a world of hurt, because, he hasn't dedicated even one ad or campaign appearance to answering to the charges, rather, he goes from location to location bashing those who have negative things to say about him.  This might have worked if this fiasco was in October, but it started in May.

Normally I channel surf, but when I tried to change channels during Zell's speach I found that my remote control had melted and there were burn marks the coffee table.

Yikes.... Smiley

That may be the hardest hitting speech I have ever heard at a convention.

I think the fact that Zell is, at least nominally, a Democrat shields the GOP a bit.

I am interested to see what tonight's tracking polls will show in the Battleground states.

A speech that hard hitting is always at least a mild risk.  My sense is that he did not go over the line, but then again I thought Gore won all the debates in 2000 so I don't even pretend to be able to judge these things.

If nothing else, I think we can all agree that any speech that can make Cheney looks soft and fuzzy in comparison is... an achievement.... to put it mildly.

I'll wait for the battleground tracking polls tomorrow morning before I make up my mind Smiley

The Zell effect will be apparent tomorrow at Rasmussen.
Today Bush went up to 49, (apparently he polled 51% last night and 47% the previous 2 days).  If Bush drops below 50%, Zell hurt, if Bush goes above 51% (which in this divided nation I would be amazed at) Zell helped.

But Bush's speech tonight should overshadow any Zell effect.

Usually I have low expectations for presentations by Bush, but given how poorly I thought Kerry did, I actually expect Bush to give a much better speech than Kerry.

Wrong:

Go back to the "Rasmussen" thread

Bush's jump today was due to a string Kerry sample rolling OFF not a strong Bush sample rilling ON.

The caption said "U.S. Senator Zell Miller (D-GA)"  He said, "What has happened to the party I've spent my life working in?"  He praised FDR and Truman.  He came off as a Democrat-- one whose party had left him.

Believe it or not, here in PA, there are a lot of such Democrats.

I believe it.  Although I'll bet they went about 98% for Bush in 2000, if not higher.

And that is why he is coming to Erie and holding a giant rally in a stadium that holds 15,000 people.  I'm going to that by the way.  Rep. Phil English, who I talked to today, says that the Reps. internal polls show that support for Kerry in PA is soft at best.  Those who say that they would vote for Kerry today only nominally support him.

This is one Irish Catholic (background only) that is NOT buying it!  Bush can keep coming here all he wants.  Remember thatearly 90s song "NEVER GONNA GET IT.. NEVER GONNA GET IT."  That's Bush in PA!
