seems somewhat likely...  Webb, Palin, Jindal, Kaine [2005], Crist, etc have all been mentioned

The person would have to have an extensive career prior in order to be sufficiently considered, especially because McCain's main line of attack is likely going to be an experience argument (we all know how well that worked already but it's the main thing that sticks against Obama).  McCain can't select someone that would dilute the argument and Obama can't really choose someone that would strengthen it.
