I've considered it in the past - its very long to calculate, and also depends on what version we use in terms of requiring or not lower preferences. It will also potentially damage the tradition of write-ins.

Absolutely - even if there is a secret ballot.

Would we force everyone to list all the candidates? If not, no one would list more than one, since it would hurt their preferred candidate.

Idea for this, I have.  If, say, seven candidates there are and only five list you; then, top preference, only five points, does he gets.  But, preference all candidates do you, and top preference, get all seven points, he does.

It's still too complicated to understand, especially for many newbies (read: myself).  I'm still in favor of the approval poll followed by a two-way run-off.

I don't like any system of voting that involves using the letters 'n' and 'x' to explain it.

And what's eurovision?

It's actually very easy to caclulate, just put all the numbers in excel and insert a formula, and you have the results.

From a voters perspective, it's no harder to understand than IRV, you rank the candidates in order of preference.

Good idea, Yoda.
