In overall. I'm just wondering if there are any Republicans left who'd deny this.

It's concievable that Bush actually did accomplish many of the things that he set out to do, regardless of whether or not the public approve.

exactly my point.  Bush protected his friends and got rid of his Daddy's enemy in Saddam.  among a few other things.

BRTD, when something is deemed a 'failure', it is implied that it failed at something.  what do you think the Bush Presidency has failed at?  being good?  well, it's unlikely that that was his goal in the first place.

It lacks any positive accomplishments, so yes.

His entire 2000 campaign was about cutting taxes, increasing military spending, reforming the education system and pushing a conservative social agenda.  He got all of that done with the tax cuts, the war budget, No Child Left Behind, and the Supreme Court croaking and replaced with right wingers.

Pretty damn successful if you ask me.

Maintaining a decent approval rating, privatizing Social Security and other entitlements, passing border reform, creating a stable 'ally' (re: puppet state) in Iraq. And that's just off the top of my head. Not to mention what he's actually 'accomplished' has obviously been for the most part catastrophic for not just America but his party as a whole.

It is a huge success from the perspective of extreme right wing ideologues, and has served the interests of the top .1% incredibly well.  As a bonus, the 'Iraq War' allowed the siphoning off of tens of billions to Bush's supporters, direct from the public treasury.

It would be hard to imagine a more successful presidency.

That said I voted 'failure' as it was horribly damaging to the vast majority of americans, though we all know that doesn't matter and isn't the criteria by wish these presidencies are judged.

I agree with BT and Ebowed; the question is flawed.

I'm sure he achieved much of what he sought to do.......9/11 derailed many of his plans I'm sure.

hardly.  9/11 allowed him to accelerate much of his agenda and decreased his opposition.

I'd liken him to Harry Truman (who made many mistakes), but who is now seen as being a "near great" president.

I think GW Bush will look better in 20-50 years (possibly in 4-8 years). Wink

Harry Truman isn't exactly an unreasonable comparison for President Bush to make...

Did Truman ever admit his mistakes? Bush doesn't seem to think he's made any at all Roll Eyes
