Interesting topic. This sums up why I'm starting to hate California despite its politics now. It's ironic a state known for so much environmental activism is such an environmental disaster.

No way. Visalia is further away from the Bay Area than Fresno, and would be a ridiculous commute to LA. Maybe going to Fresno, but Visalia is its own city. (really polluted) I think the growth is mostly Hispanic laborers.

I'll be passing through Visalia on my way to Yosemite on a school trip in a couple weeks, I think. I'll notify you guys if there's anything interesting.

Eh? Well, I mix up those Central Valley towns. The only time Visalia affects me is when I go to Municipal Stadium to see the Giants play the Oaks.
