What's with these moderate old men from Connecticut and their kissing of Bush? Maybe Lowell Weicker can give him a hickie at the inauguration.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.  Not because of Shays, but because I just saw the president giving Jean Schmidt his autograph. Tongue

I don't understand why these Congressmen wants Bush's autograph? It's ridiculous, they act like preteen girls at an NSync concert.

They sometimes get the signature for others, or in some cases, use them as collectors items.  If I come across an actor I don't like, but get a chance to get his autograph, I'm not going to pass up the opportunity.  You never know if it will be of value down the road, or if you want to give it to someone else as a gift.

Exactly.  Our former Congresswoman offered to get me Jim Bunning's autograph because she knew I was a baseball fan and, at one time, Bunning pitched for the Pirates -- one of my two favorite teams.

I declined, but it was nice of her.

As to political collectibles, Presidential sigs are a big, big deal.  Have you seen what signed pics with the living Presidents and their wives go for?  Mega bucks at some auctions.

That's ok, I have ones from Nixon, Ford, and Reagan.  I wonder how much they would go for these days (not that I would ever sell them).  I have a signed letter from Reagan, and to me, that is priceless.

...but it just seems a bit strange that someone you sort of have to work with would idolized that much but I guess it sorta makes some sense.

Shays was the only New England Republican who openly supported the Iraq War and Bush back in 2006 ... and is now currently the only New England Republican in office.

Obviously because the good people of Greenwich all love Bush and the war...
