Following his sucessful trip to the moon and back in 1868, Impey Barbicane (president of the Baltimore Gun Club) today announced his intention to run for the Presidency of the United States as the Republican candidate. This was followed a few days later by the annoucement that Gideon Spilen (formerly a reporter with the New York Herald) that he would intend to become the Democtratic candidate.

In case you are wondering both Impey Barbicane and Gideon Spilen are characters from Jules Verne books, which means that anything (and everything can go) within reason of 1870 that is. Anyone want to come up with a couple of running mates and policies?

In that case, would you like to offer up some policies for both candidates?

Hmm...tough. I imagine Spillen would be the conservative and Barbicane the liberal. Can't get much more specific than that.
