The story was originally published in a 'friendly' newspaper. To be honest, this is 'small fry' and probably needs a thorough check before conclusions can be reached. As for Wendy, she finds out next week whether or not the Electoral Commision will find again her. If so she has stated she will not resign and has written support from MSP Jackie Baillie amongst others but the hard truth is, her ineffectiveness against Mr Salmond (particularly over the budget) has won few friends in the media and within the wider Scottish Labour family. I don't believe she can survive if she's facing the same Holyrood and press pressure that ousted Henry McLeish and David McLetchie.

My reaction was initially something along the lines of "oh f*** not this sh*** again" until I read more. If something dodgy happend it doesn't seem to have had much/anything to do with Johnson or his campaign, though, yeah, everything must be checked anyway (though I'd hope that most of that's been done already). This looks like a story that wouldn't attract much attention under normal circumstances.

I'm amused to note that Norman Baker has issued a press release already. I do hope that, one of these days, he's found in bed with a dog.

And obviously no one cases about Scotch-land Wink Tongue

We should really detach and float away to see if anyone notices. Theres enough hot air in the First Minister to get us up to about 20knots. And if we empty the wallets of the Daily Mail readers that apparently get bussed up here every day that should reduce the drag Smiley

Greenland ho!

Can't be bothered to start a new thread, but an ex-M.P of mine (Derek Conway) is in a wee bit of trouble at present.

Yes. I was a little annoyed when Cameron did not withdraw the whip from him immediately as he had planned to do. Unfortunately it seems that his old friend David Davis weighed in and saved his skin, letting Commons procedures decide his fate. However considering Conway appears to have been running what can only be considered a 'family business' from his office, Cameron is right (though too late) to request the whip be withdrawn.

It's what we, as a party should do in each case and let the powers that be investigate.

Derek Conway is to step down as an MP at the next election.
