I think we can guess where these "conservatives" will be coming from.

One of Stark's friends did post a little while ago but then promptly disappeared.

For somewhat reason, the disappearance of the Republicans on this forum has reminded me of that song Where have all the flowers Gone?.

When the landscape is bleak the enthusiasm wanes. Beyond that, for some reason, I don't find a whole lot the moves me to post. Either the post is entirely sensible, or just someone stating who he favors or does not. Beyond that, getting hot and bothered about candidates, I think tends to more of a younger person's passion. As one moves close to final exit, one has a rather more perspective perhaps, that much of what seems to matter a lot, does not. JMO.

I agree with Soulty's post on page 2 of this thread.

The forum was a lot more balanced between liberal, conservatives, libertarians and populists. But the forum became a lot more left leaning which is resulting in less conservatives joining and current ones leaving. Without a balance, this place is taking a turn for the worse. (And I would be saying the same thing if the forum started leaning too much to the right.)

A conservative site was having the same problem.  electionprojection.com a site that I was going to even before coming here (I found to the link to this site from there) recently shut off commenting because it became mostly liberal.  The host of the site is a conservative, and when I first started going there I was one of only a handful of liberals.  As the site got bigger their became more of a balance on the site, but then the posters became mostly liberal, and as a result of having mostly liberals responding to comments on hi conservative side rather than a mix of both which was there prior he shut down commenting.

The biggest reason this has likely occurred is the prospects for 2008.  People tend to post more when they are excited about something.  Democrats are excited about their chances in 08 so therefore they post more.  Republicans have realized their chances for next year rank up there with Huckabee's chances of winning Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont if he were to get the GOP nod therefore don't post much.

Looks like a opened the door and they were sucked in through the wind tunnel outside.  Hopefully now I have regained my balance they can step back inside. (Wow that makes no sense)
