First King Charles has cancer, now the Princess of Wales.

Undergoing chemo is scary, they’re saying it’s early stage but that definitely sounds serious. It’s probably malignant and not just a tumor all ine one place easily removed by the surgeries she’s already had.

Since they were operating on her abdomen, I’d guess it’s colon cancer. They’re saying it’s becoming much more common for people in their 20s-40s.

The 'early stage' phrase seems to refer to chemo rather than the cancer itself.

So sad to hear this. Lost my beloved aunt last year to cancer. Fortunately I think Kate will pull through in the end. She’s the literal Princess of Wales, the medical care she’s getting has got to be the best available.

Damn. Only in her early 40's. Colon cancer is a real bitch too.

Hopefully she makes a full recovery.

These Royal crises/tragedies have a habit of occurring close together. 1992 was the year of the Windsor fire and the divorces of both Andrew/Fergie and Anne/Captain Phillips. Margaret and the Queen Mother both died in 2002, Phillip and the Queen died within eighteen months of each other and now these two cancer diagnoses have come within weeks of each other. They aren't perpetually in crisis - it was relatively smooth-sailing from the early 2000s to when the sagas of Andrew and Harry/Meghan really got going in about 2019.

I wonder if the English press will cover it.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, making ‘good progress’ against cancer and is set for first public appearance in months

Quote
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has said she is making “good progress” in her recovery from cancer, and will make her first public appearance in months at the King’s official birthday celebration on Saturday.

Catherine, who revealed in March she has been diagnosed with cancer, said in a new statement on Friday that she has experienced “good days and bad days” while undergoing chemotherapy, and expects her treatment to continue “for a few more months.”

But she is expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the royal family on Saturday at Trooping the Colour, King Charles III’s birthday parade, and Kensington Palace have released a new photo of the Princess taken earlier this week in Windsor.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” the Princess, who is often known as Kate, said in a personal message released on Friday.
