"According to Aguilar's office, they provided this guidance to all county clerks and registrars. It's believed that counties did not start counting any votes before polls closed until now, even though it's allowed under state law as long as results remain secret."

Jesus christ.

It also sounds like they're going to try and test this with the upcoming primary on 6/11, so we'll get a look into how faster it ends up being.

Sounds like it will have a blue counting bias in November

Good. While speed should not be prioritized above making sure everyone can vote, I'm pleased that we'll know our fate in Nevada in a hurry. Even if it's not looking good at the moment.

Nevada is slow in large part because the votes cannot be released until everyone in line by 8pm PST has voted. It’s still going to be 12:30 Eastern before we see anything.

It's early voting and the polls lied to us last time Trump is finished if he loses AZ and/or NV

Are they no longer going to use sloths to count the votes?

Yep. The reason for it takes so long to count in Nevada is not that counties do not process the EV early enough it's because of waiting for everyone in the state to finish voting before releasing any results, mail ballots dropped off at polling places and drop boxes on election day, and waiting for late ballots mailed by election day to arrive. IIRC the big counties in Nevada already dump their EV numbers as soon as they are able.

Depends. If Trump is within 40,000 after the VBM is released he has a good chance winning NV.

And I say the same thing in Arizona. The Biden Campaign exceeded expectations in 2020. Their Models were predicting Biden would have a 150,000 lead with the Early VBM Vote, it ended up being 220,000.

If Trump is within 150,000 he's going to win AZ.

Even after that, it still takes a long time for all the votes to be counted. The Senate and gubernatorial races weren’t called for a few days after Election Day.

I mean that’s great and all, and it should be this way for every state honestly. Aside from Texas and California, if we can get 99% of our votes counted on election night, I don’t understand why the other less-populated 47 can’t do this too. This is 2024, not 1924.

We need quick closure not an endless dragging it out. Trust me, we still have PTSD from 2000.

Another reason why electing Democrats as Secretary of State is so important. Republicans purposely don't allow these laws so counting will take longer in order for the uninformed public to have more questions on the legitimacy of the results.

Any initiative to count votes accurately and in a more timely manner should always be celebrated
