I decided to go all the way back for fun. Anyways, I voted Bill Clinton 1992.

I voted Walter Mondale.

He's like if Walter Mondale was actually elected president.

Nice guy.

But never in a million years was MEANT to be president.

Certainly not the way some of these other guys were.

I'll never stop thinking of him as a VP, as "Diamond Joe," as Barack's wingman.

I just can't get past that and see him as a true leader in his own right.

And I honestly think this is at the root of a lot of people's problems with him. They may not find him outright offensive or evil, but they just get the sense that's something's "off" with hm being POTUS, like he doesn't quite fit the job.

It might be crude, it might not be right, it might not be fair. But I think it's a very real perception that may well pose an insurmountable hurdle to re-election. Like it or not, the guy is just not very "presidential.' Vice Presidential? Sure. But he feels like an accidental placeholder president we just elected by default to escape the nightmare that was Trump. I certainly hope we do it again if it comes to that, but I would much prefer and be much more excited to see younger blood take the office instead. As increasingly unlikely as that seems.

Tbh even though I love Biden I still kinda view him as “Obama’s Vice President”, though given that the Obama Admin was a successful one IMO, this isn’t exactly a bad thing. Like at all.

LBJ. Biden is really more of an old school liberal Democrat than I thought he would be. Too bad he doesn't have a healthy majority and Democratic Party control of both parts of Congress to help.

Sorry, but I think it’s fair to say Hillary’s campaign was just as left-wing as Biden’s, and perhaps even moreso when you consider her full-throated embrace of the social justice angle. Before that, I went with FDR.

Socially? The most left wing ever

Economically? Probably Humphrey in 1968

Al Smith as nominee, probably what Mondale allegedly would be if on the actual record.

We are trying to win the Filibuster proof Trifecta and MO, OH, TX, Obama didn't get rid of Filibuster when he had 60 Seats and regrets it everyday

Thats why it's called wave insurance , everyone has a 303 map but if Brown or ALLRED or Kunce or Stein wins it's wave insurance

The problem with polls is that 66 percent of the population is white and minorities don't all take surveys on their phones but whites do, so the few minorities they have they are sophisticated Minorities that have android or iPhone not Obama phone to take surveys, and polls blanket minorities as more R leaning. How is that if we want reparations and Rs are against reparations

As relative to the mainstream, I suppose
For his religion? For prohibition?
For other reason?

I wouldn't say Biden is particularily left wing, he occupies the worst spot a Democrat could, to the right of the party and a large number of voters but still to the left of the average Republican. This is just how I feel tho. Biden will have to moderate for the election (literally every candidate has to shift towards the center if they don't wanna lose).

Mondale.

Just due to the party overall moving to the left since the Obama years.

At this point economically I'd say Mondale (or Dukakis who was relatively New Dealesque), but that says a lot more about the Dems RW shift than about any of Biden's policies. Socially he's the most LW Dem pres/nominee ever.

When the Democratic Leadership Council began in the 1980s, made of many prominent centrist/neoliberal democrats like Bill Clinton, Bruce Babbitt,

Biden never joined that group.

Although Biden's not exactly a progressive in the style of Bernie Sanders, he's not a " neoliberal " either.

I actually think he went out of Obama's showdow after becoming president and is his own man now. And he's definitely a more effective president than his former boss. If he's reelected, I could see Biden becoming more popular among future Democrats than Obama. Latter's legacy is already viewed more critical among liberal and leftist circles over the last few years.

It's pretty disingenuous to compare Biden with Obama given the differing circumstances. But you have to admit that Biden got a lot right on some foreign policy issues as VP and was dealt a bad hand when he inherited the Presidency.
