Okay, it's not scientific and ConHome has an agenda but worth noting none-the-less as it involved 1200 self declared 'Conservatives'

Rudy Giuliani: 43.9%
John McCain: 14.4%
Hillary Clinton: 10.1%
Barack Obama: 10.1%
Al Gore: 5.9%
Fred Thompson: 4.9%
Newt Gingrich: 4.6%
Mitt Romney: 2.3%
John Edwards: 2.2%
Sam Brownback: 0.7%
Bill Richardson: 0.6%
Joe Biden: 0.3%

EDIT: It's interesting to see the variations in the conservative movements both sides of the Atlantic.

Funny. If the UK conservatives break 70-30 for the Republicans, I can say the general UK voting population won´t be much different than the Austrian, which prefer Hillary by 87-13 over a Generic Republican.

This means that the UKs 100 Electoral Votes will go to the Democrats.

Well the Labour and the Lib Dem grassroots would certainly break, overwhelmingly, for the Democrat and most likely by a higher margin than the Conservatives would break for the Republican.

If I recall correctly, Tories favoured Kerry over Bush in 2004

Correct. The poll by ConHome was of partY members (and mostly the rabid wingers, though I voted in it too Smiley ) The poll in 2004 surveyed Conservative voters and found Kerry comfortabley ahead. I believe the same has been true when polled in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

Kerry was even ahead in elections where he didn't run?  That's quite impressive!  Wink
