I've long contended it will be Kristi Noem and I will stand by that until concrete information to the contrary emerges.

Whoever is least likely to overshadow him and whoever will be completely loyal to him over the good of the country.

Rudy Giuliani is the obvious pick from Trump's perspective. That's not a sensible perspective in larger political terms, but it is his personal perspective.

The funny thing is that picking Giuliani won't cost Trump even a single evangelical vote, despite Giuliani's famous cross dressing and relative social liberalism. But it actually could help limit the damage to Trump from Dobbs, since it would make pro-choice female Republicans (a small but significant group) more comfortable voting for Trump in the general.

I don't think any really stand out, but if I had to guess, I'd go with Kari Lake. She's willing to be as conspiratorial as Trump without hogging the limelight from him. Plus she's from a swing state (even though she lost there).

Nobody actually believes she lost to that low-energy loser.

After what that insider revealed the other day I am now leaning toward this as well

Lake is probably the other main possibility besides Giuliani. Trump won't like that she lost though because he dislikes "losers."

Unless... he sees it in terms of "she lies about losing just like me, so that is actually good, and she is a winner like me."And that may well be how Trump sees it.

Stefanik.

But Scott and Zeldin may be potential picks now too...until they aren't and we hear about him considering Subway Jared or some s*** next week.

At this stage, I find it most likely that Donald Trump will try and ring up someone like Bob Good or Andy Biggs, as a firm statement of belief (MAGA all the way!) and perhaps an olive branch to the DeSantis crew (as close to open party unity as he can get without appointing someone who he may see as untrustworthy). "Most likely" still means that I think Trump only has a 5% chance or so of actually doing it, such are the number of other possibilities...

I'm getting the vibe that he's gonna pick Tim Scott.

Probably Kristy Noem but I can see a scenario for Nikki Haley, if she cannot be convinced otherwise to get out of the race.  Trump hates her with a passion, but he recognizes that she has a lot of money to carry on, and may do it if she is sucking too much time from the campaign.  However Noem is more likely.
