Trump has been compared to all of the above. IMO it's Mussolini fairly easily, with a touch of Jones and Hubbard. I don't think he has the, um, frankly "neurodivergent" touch that Hitler had which led him to being far more ideological and less cynical than the others in my view.

L. Ron Hubbard. Both Mussolini and Hitler believed in something, Jones come off as crazy in different way. But Hubbard and Trump share the whole get rich fast, grift as much as possible and if after me the deluge who cares.

Donald Trump does not particularly resemble any of these people. I guess Hubbard for the reason ingemann gave, but still not that close.

Mussolini.

Trump, an otherwise ignorant person, has even mastered some of Mussolini's mannerisms. Trump clearly admires Mussolini and wants to resemble him.

None of them seem to be a very good fit. I can at least see how stylistically he is Mussolini-esque, though he's definitely not an intellectual in the way Mussolini was. Hitler, I think, is a pretty lazy comparison, as is Jim Jones. L. Ron Hubbard kinda touches on the grifting aspect of Trump, but even that doesn't seem like a good fit. To me, Trump resembles Berlusconi with a bit of Idi Amin.

He's kind of a mixture of Sulla, Marius, and the Gracci brothers. Although he will never live up to the statesmanship of those figures and their ability to strategize.

Trump has been compared to all of the above. IMO it's Mussolini fairly easily, with a touch of Jones and Hubbard. I don't think he has the, um, frankly "neurodivergent" touch that Hitler had which led him to being far more ideological and less cynical than the others in my view.

Hitler definitely had a neurodivergent touch and the only reason he isn't seen as autistic is because nobody wants to claim "him" and because it is impossible to retro-actively diagnose someone with absolute certainty (even if the modern diagnosing process is very flawed as well). It's still way too stereotypical.

There is a reason why Hitler isn't diagnosed with a specific something, because it isn't helpful for anyone if he was given a diagnosis, so it is better non-specified. And secondly because a lot of mental disorders still face stereotypes, such as Hitler was able to touch and entertain crowds with his talent for speech, so he can impossibly be autistic, which is obviously bullsh**t. Anyone saying that has no remote understanding of ASD at all. Besides, his early life has a lot of "checks" for what is typical in people with ASD nowadays.

For Trump, he's about as much of the opposite of how one with ASD would behave like. And his life prior to being president was an arguably succesful one: businessman, very confident as a child. Any pecularities today is because of old age and narcissism.

Trump isn't even remotely similar to Hitler.

He's not as good a fit for Mr Bunga-Bunga as a certain British ex-PM, though.

Strange characters of both the 1930s and 1990s in his own country share quite a few things in common with him. For the former, Charles Coughlin (who has already been mentioned), Huey Long and Gerald L. K. Smith. For the latter, Ross Perot, Jesse Ventura and Pat Buchanan (all of whom were 'comrades' of his in the Reform Party).

Mussolini and Berlusconi are reasonable comparisons in some ways.

Comparing Trump to Hitler isn’t wholly accurate, because it implies that Trump actually believes in something beyond personal enrichment.
