Iran blasts live: Deadly explosions target Soleimani death anniversary

Explosions have been reported at an event near the tomb of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qassem Soleimani.

At least 73 people have been reported killed and more than 170 injured at the event marking the fourth anniversary of Soleimani’s death.

Videos show ambulances arriving at the scene and taking away the injured on stretchers.

Previously Iran was doing the bare minimum against Israel, not wanting to escalate towards war at this fragile time, but Israel has been testing that policy since the attack on Ahvaz a while back and escalating by assisting the MEK and separatists last year. Khamenei’s wishes to maintain the peace is rapidly losing favor.

I’m hoping for any escalation to be over soon so my family can enjoy their holidays next year in a free country. Hopefully many responsible for this attack are taken with it.

Sort of a mystery. Maybe Turkmen or Balochi nationalists? Or maybe al Qaeda? ISIS claimed a terrorist attack there in 2022, so maybe them. It doesn't feel like Israel's modus operandi, but they can't be completely ruled out, either.
