…therefore no President will ever end a war again.”

It’s unbelievable how often I’ve seen tweets saying this. Do they really think Biden cares about how nice some people on Twitter are to him?

Twitter is full of bad takes. Didn't you get the memo?

The people from the planes not ending the war itself was a PR nightmare but did Putin take solice in that Taliban ran out US from Afghanistan yes that's why he launched a military attack on Ukraine

Michael Moore thanked Biden for ending the war, but since the Ukraine invasion you haven't heard anything from Moore

The specific take is awful but unfortunately there something to be said in the broader sense that Biden getting no political support from ending Afghanistan or heavily restricting the drone wars will be a incentive for future presidents to not try to be doves

At this point I'm pretty sure good takes are banned from Twitter

They shouldn't thank him for that.

This is a dumb take, but it is true that if:

you run around calling Biden "the war president" and demanding he end the wars
Biden then takes an enormous political risk to end America's biggest and longest-running war
your response to this is to simply act like it didn't happen and continue lambasting him

then you are not a serious person and your political concerns should not be taken seriously.  Because it's extremely clear that your political demands and ideology are 100% performative since you got exactly what you allegedly want yet have zero positive reaction to this and zero change in the tenor of your demands.

of course Biden didn't end the Afghanistan War because of the demands of "peace activists", he ended it because (A) he wanted to, and (B) the Trump administration painted him into a corner anyway with the Doha Accord.  So it's not like any of this will have any actual impact on Biden's policy.  He's not going to decide whether or not to start or end any particular military action based on how he thinks the base will react to it.

But it does illustrate how silly it is for people to think that the Biden Administration policy on Israel/Gaza is being impacted in any way whatsoever by these protests or activists.  These are fundamentally non-serious people.  And we know perfectly well that if Biden were to give them exactly what they want -- if Biden were to eliminate all U.S. aid to Israel, threaten Bibi with peacekeeping military action unless Israel withdraws from Gaza, endorses a one-state solution from the river to the sea, and recognizes Hamas as the rightful government of that state -- they would have absolutely no reaction, no change to their demands or tactics whatsoever, and they would still call him "Genocide Joe" and show up at the White House Easter Egg Roll with giant pictures of dead Syrian children they pretend are from Gaza.
