It's deeply depressing that there are millions of Americans who have no empathy for LGBT+ kids and think that they should be outed to their abusive parents.

But thankfully, these sickos seem to be a very loud minority. The silent majority doesn't want these freaks to terrorize children and harass teachers.

If they're not talking about it to teachers they won't be outed.

We are not freaks, we do not terrorize children, and we will seek sanctions for teachers that violate the rights of parents that, after all, are the ones held responsible for everything their children do until they are 18.  That's something you have no experience in, so it diminishes the validity of what you say here.  Parents of LGBTQ children are the ones that bear the responsibility for those children.  They have every right to not be interfered with by teachers who don't have that kind of responsibility.

We're not going away, and we'll be here, pushing back while your posts are being infracted for excessive hyperbole.

That's a blatant lie. LGBT kids are terrified of people like you.

The Alphabet cult depends upon brainwashing kids through the education system, of course they arent going to give up their cult member breeding grounds. Conservatives fighting at all for school board races and the like at all is a positive as they have given up free reign to the alphabet cultists for decades.

May I ask you how long it's been since you were once in an actual school or classroom per chance?

Parents have rights, but those rights are not absolute. Parents do not have the right to abuse their children. Parents do not have the right to neglect their children. Parents do not have the right to abandon their children. Parents do not have the right to torment their children.

Children have the right to an education. Children have the right to feel safe. Children have the right to feel accepted. Children have the right to feel comfortable in their own skin.

The safety of children trumps the ideology of parents.

We defeated the monsters of history before. We defeated those who fought to preserve slavery. We defeated those who fought to preserve Jim Crow. We defeated those who fought to prevent women's suffrage. We defeated those who fought against Civil Rights. We defeated those who fought to preserve sodomy laws. Plenty of abolitionists weren't lining up to support the Freedman's Bureau. Plenty of suffragists weren't feminists.  Ergo civil rights support isn't the end all be all here either. So no, it's not necessarily unreasonable.

However, once again, regardless of stance or agreement, it's just a reality that children do as they do and talk about what they wish, because they're suckers to fit in with their peers. Especially between 11-16. And TikTok [or any social media really]is just making it worse.

They'll out themselves very easily if they find the niche to do so, or some edgelords [which in this day and age means 9/11 jokes aren't off the table] or phobic kids do something, and they can easily do it while a teacher is off helping someone else, or perhaps at lunch.

Oh, and given all the teen pregnancies out there despite these sorts of parents pushing abstinence-only, the track record is already tarnished.

I'll agree that parents rights aren't absolute.  I've worked in occupations where I have been a mandatory reporter, and I've made many reports to the Florida Department of Children and Families to report suspected abuse or neglect.  That's not what we're talking about here, however.

Children don't have the right to "feel" anything.  They have the right to actually BE safe.  They have the right to not be harrassed by others and not be ridiculed or threatened in an environment that they are required to be in.  How a child "feels" is, in large measure, a choice of the child.  People make choices as to what they think and children are no different.  Part of maturing into a well-adjusted adult involves a child learning that they can, in fact, choose what they think, what thoughts they will entertain, and the fact that which thoughts we choose to entertain have consequences in our lives and in the lives of others.

Gender Dysphoria is a specified condition in the DSM-IV.  It's not a teacher's place to inject themselves into that situation; they are not trained, and the rights of parents trump THEIR ideology.  Some teachers and school districts are slow learners on this.  That is one reason we're not going away. The other reason is the extreme invasiveness of "Gender Affirming Care".  This sort of thing is none of the school's business; it is an issue between parents and their kids afflicted with Gender Dysphoria.  And there are certainly instances where teacher interference has, in fact, interfered with the efficacy of mental health measures parents have chosen to utilize that do not involve life-altering surgeries or the use of puberty blockers and other drugs with massive side-effects.  Parents have the right to be free from interfering behaviors from teachers that counteract the effectiveness of mental health treatments that THEY choose for their kids.

Ferguson97, of course, knows nothing about being responsible for another human life; he just degrades people who do so in a way that counteracts his political agenda.  Parents that do so are doing so not because of their political agendas; they are doing so because they are looking down a long road and considering their child's welfare down the road when they are no longer dependent children.  Ferguson97 knows nothing of that concept, either.  That's yet another reason we won't go away; we're the people that bear the responsibility for kids in everything they do.  We care about the overall quality of their lives in every sense of the concept.  Ferguson97 only cares that they'll grow up to vote Democratic.  That's the different between being an activist and a parent.

I disagree, I think that the extent to which you want parents to have control over their children's gender identity and expression qualifies as abuse.

"Parent's rights" is the worst possible counterargument to trans rights, because it is logically inconsistent. If gender affirming care is negative, then it shouldn't matter what anti-trans parents think. If gender affirming care is positive, then it shouldn't matter what pro-trans parents think.

The logical conclusion if your position is to support gay conversion therapy.

It is not a parents' place to dictate their child's gender identity or sexual orientation.

Children are human beings with rights of their own. They are not the property of their parents.

I do not have children, but I do have two younger siblings who are LGBT. And thankfully, our father loves and accepts them both just the way that they are. I love them both too.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as we are. Some have parents who would pitch a fit and reject the love that they deserve and deny their identity.

People like Fuzzy Bear do not care about the mental well-being of children. They only are about conformity and obedience. That is the difference between being an empathetic person and a narcissist.

Again:  Ferguson97 is not the one who has ever had the responsibility of raising a child and all that comes with it.  As he does not even take enough responsibility to live within the ToS and not attack me personally, one can speculate what kind of parent he would be if things went south and his son or daughter told them at age 18 that they were voting for Donald Trump, Jr. for President.

I would never disown any of my children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, no matter what they did.  For you to say otherwise is just your projection.  I'm governed by God, and God does not relieve a Father of certain responsibilities for his adult children.  But a parent of minor children is governed by the Biblical adage:  "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  (Proverbs 22:6)  And there are legal ramifications.  People don't talk about "Trans Remorse" a lot on this site because of political motivation, but it's a real thing, and there are people who transitioned young and came to regret it, but found that they could not just transition back.  I will not allow a child of mine to begin that process ever; it is, to be kind, a radically intrusive solution to a problem where less intrusive solutions are available.  And by "solutions", I mean solutions to the problem of suicidal ideation and tendencies.

There are all sorts of things accepted on this Forum as some sort of "best practice" in this matter that (A) are far from actual "best practices" and (B) are intrusive measures that are hard to reverse.  I'm responsible for the actions I take regarding my child when they are minors and I have the moral responsibility to God for what I do for a lifetime.  I own both of these.  I am not posting this for Ferguson97, as he has his own agenda, but I am posting this for those who, even though they may not agree with me in the whole, are at least somewhat reasonable.

You can dish it but you cannot take it. You feel free to engage in personal attacks yourself, but pitch a fit any time someone says anything negative about you. I think there's a term for that: crybully.

And if one of my children grew up to be a Republican, then that means somewhere along the way, I failed as a parent. I would take responsibility for that.

People don't talk about "Trans Remorse" a lot on this site because of political motivation, but it's a real thing, and there are people who transitioned young and came to regret it, but found that they could not just transition back.

This site also doesn't discuss people who are struck by lightning very often, what's your point?

It is a lie that they are hard to reverse. There is no need to show your ignorance like this.

And we're not even talking about surgeries or anything, we're just talking about socially transitioning, which is just using a different name and pronouns.

We are still far far more successful in those races than we were before

Quote
The 1776 Project, a political-action committee that says it spent over $700,000 this election backing conservatives school board candidates, touted a 59% win rate. The group had success in more right-leaning parts of Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Obviously we were not gonna keep hitting 2021 numbers as those numbers were only possible because liberals up until that point generally thought they had a lock on these types of races so the surprise factor helped us win a lot of races.

The fact is though on trans issues, many countries that legalized gay marriage before we did are passing Florida style laws when it comes to gender affirming care and now even Canada is starting to see provinces pass parental rights laws. So the trend is the opposite of what existed when it came to Gay marriage when country after country was legalizing it even before we did

That's a decision for parents to make.  Not teachers.  Especially not activist teachers.

The issue of this kind of interference into a child's family ought to bring the strongest possible pushback from parents.  It's a power grab, amongst other things.

Teachers aren't the boss of parents, and they should receive intense pushback when they attempt to be.  Having dealt with the school system for two (2) separate generations of kids, I can tell you that the disrespect for parental prerogatives on the part of teachers has been progressive, as well as their own abuses of power.  Much of this I've discussed in threads over the years, and much of this is a lie.

The liars are those who state that the trans process is easily reversed.  Trans men transitioning back cannot get their breasts back and they are likely to never bear children.  There's certainly no guarantee on that.  Unfortunately, this issue is now so politics-driven.  I'll let the reader put themselves in the position who went through the radical step of transitioning, only to wish to transition back in a few years.  I suspect that Trans Remorse has its roots in the fact that Trans Women are not Biological Women and Trans Men are not Biological Men.  Science may one day be able to actually turn a biological man into a biological woman and vice versa, but it hasn't done so yet.

People like him are the reason religion is dying in the West. Hope they keep it up. The more they try to grab the genitals and leash people the more slip through their fingers.

My favorite conservative-ism is when they issue "responses" to arguments that nobody made. Especially given that you've repeated this exact line like 10 times.

We know we're right, and we won't be going away.

Teachers discussing "gender identity" and other such subjects with students without the consent of their parents isn't right in any universe.  We're not going away, and we're not letting up.  Discussing sexuality with legal children is the province of parents.  If you don't like the way parents might handle the issue, do it your way at home when you have your own kids.  Otherwise . . . pound salt.

I don’t know how many times this needs to be said, but there are very few teachers out there wasting class time discussing sexuality and gender in depth in our classrooms. We neither care nor do we have the time.

Y’all aren’t right and definitely need to go away. I’m not sure why my profession is the only one where idiots who popped a kid out are allowed to pretend they know better than the professionals. People don’t tell doctors how to diagnose and treat illnesses. Why do we keep pretending that they know better than teachers how to teach students?

I'm not going away.  My son is my son 24/7.  He's not mine at home and yours during the week.

Patients have the right to demand second opinions and decline medicines; it's THEIR body.  Do parents know better than teachers on how to teach students?  I would say that this is not the issue.  The issue is that teachers are not where they are to help students in values clarification, clarify their sexual orientation (they shouldn't even be having sex), or introduced to the false construct of "gender identity" (there's no such thing in reality).  They are teachers to educate students in defined academic subjects.  My son is currently homeschooled because, in part, we DO know better than the public schools, and, in part, because we know that we have his best interests at heart.

Teachers that can't respect the rights of parents should be removed from the profession.  Parents and taxpayers fund the schools; they have every right to input as to how schools shall be run.  Teachers have NO such right; their job is to teach within the limitations set and to respect boundaries.

Yes, I will continue to have input in my local school board.  No, I will not let up.  The knowledge that there are people like you with contempt for parents is reason for not a one of us to let up.  Deal with it.

I don’t have contempt for parents, just contempt for parents who share your views. And it’s hilarious how you use the argument that parents funds the schools and so have a right to input on how schools shall run. Teachers also pay property taxes that go towards funding schools. So by that logic, since we are content knowledge experts, employees of the school, AND the people funding it, shouldn’t we have more of a say than parents who just pay taxes and drop their kids off for 8 hours?

Also, the logical conclusion of this "I'm a taxpayer" argument in the context of schools is that families who rent should have less of a say than families who own their homes. It's just so ridiculous.

All three conservatives running on the Douglas County, CO board of education lost this year. It was a net one seat gain for liberals on the board.

Douglas County is one of the last conservative strongholds in the state, though 2020 and 2022 make it look like it is collapsing heavily - 52.4%/45.2% Trump/Biden in 2020, followed by 49.5%/48.8% and 52.9%/44.6% splits (both Republican victories) for Governor and Senate in 2022.

62.11/36.35% R in 2012, for some context.
