Can you believe its been 7 years since the 2016 election? Time flies fast!
How do you think America has changed since that fateful day? Its politics? Would you agree that the 2016 election was the most important election of the 21st century (after 2000)?

That long from 2016 already?

I didnt start getting into politics until 2019, so I dont remember anything about election night 2019 besides hearing about my family voting for Hillary.

Most of what I remember is my first day of middle school and me watching cartoons on cable. Good times.

... and it's been over eight years since Trump got in the race and most pundits would not have guessed that he would even get his party's nomination.

Long before that he started the "birther" nonsense.

Let me say I'm glad that Atlas crasher that night and there's no permanent record of me going through the first 2 stages of grief for hours apiece.

2008 was the first election night where I followed the results as they came. Of all the elections I followed closely, 2016 was definitely the best one. All those polls showed Trump's losing, and people on here were posting maps, in all seriousness, that showed Hillary getting 400+ electoral votes. Then on Election Night - Trump won North Carolina, then the Florida results came in, then Ohio, and all of sudden Wisconsin got called for Trump. From there, I sensed it was a win. I smiled the whole time, laughing with friends

We ended up playing this song that night when Trump's win became imminent. When I think back to Election Night 2016, I still think of it:

I was a 17 year old high school senior Muslim-American and I was horrified. I felt genuine fear. Fear I haven't felt since I was abused as a young child. I was only a few months away from turning 18.

I remember the next day at school. Everyone was shocked. I was so angry. I had classmates that were 18 and didn't vote. How many 18 year olds across the country hadn't voted that day? Thats when I decided to become a teacher.

The day the EC elected the worst prez in history. Only one that attempted to overthrow the same constitution which he swore to preserve, protect and defend.

A truly terrible night that closed the worst year of my life, appropriately.

That’s EXACTLY what I did four years later when Trump got bitch-slapped by a 77-year-old man and his minority VP. And when his persistent legal challenges failed time and time again, with his own Supreme Court justices even rejecting his case. And again when the indictments piled up.

Tax cuts were popular before the Pandemic, everyone wanted tax cuts in 2004 and 2016 but our tax rebates are 500, my sister doesn't even get tax cuts because of Dead hubby got a stimulus but Rich people and AZ iced tea doesn't own property but probably middle class isn't paying no 40 K in luxury taxes so he doesn't get 40 K, guess whom gets it, Baseball and Hockey players whom vote R, especially Russian Hockey players. Blk celebrities are D because they are close to Cosby kids, except Bill Cosby is R, but Tempsett, Rudy, Malcolm Warner and Lisa Bonet, and Phyllis Rashad and Eminem, are D

Again AZ iced tea maybe middle class but he doesn't pay luxury taxes and get 40 K tax cuts we only pay 1100 a yr in taxes and 300 we get get back in tax rebates

20K of those 40 K can pay for blk reparationss and the other 20 K can pay for 2 wars

Rs think non rich people pays taxes but students loan forgiveness and credit card charge offs are paid but that 40 K tax cuts it's called tax write offs at end of yr

It has been an exhausting 7 years. I just wish it would all go away. People have gone off the deep end since then.

I literally didn’t sleep for the 2-3 days after that election. Kept watching the news and trying to make sense of it, see what I missed, see if a recount happened and changed anything. I had felt certain Trump would lose in a landslide, especially after the Access Hollywood tapes and how establishment Republicans FOX News were against him, and just confidence in the American people in general.

I don't think it will go away. 2016 defined the political landscape we live in today. We're stuck with it for now.

One of the worst nights of my life. I couldn't believe that Trump won, I was completely stunned.

I was a senior in HS and the next morning was eerie as f**k here in NYC. It was almost completely silent everywhere which is unusual. When I was on the bus, practically everyone was silent and solemn. At school, same thing, it was mostly silent except for a few students who were crying because of Trump's win.

Crazy times.
