Just wondering how many people agree with WalterMitty that even the vast majority of people in Ohio and Pennsylvania have an extreme hatred for populist politics.

On a scale of one to ten, this thread sucks.

Yet another thread where BRTD expresses his "interest" in WalterMitty.

At some point, I think Mitty should file for a restraining order.

The first two posts on this thread said pretty much everything that needed to be said.

To get the answer the Question BRTD, just look up the word "populism" in the dictionary.

Populism cannot be hated by a majority of Americans because I don't think a majority of Americans know what it means. Whether or not people support farm subsidies or unions or banning abortion and gay marriage, all positions I'd associate with populism, largely depends on how you ask the question. Most people don't really have solidly developed political ideologies.

Um, no. The vast majority of americans tend to be economically center-left and socially center right.

BRTD, you change your name almost daily, yet I always know which topics you created.

I just look for the random names, and assume it is BRTD. I am usually right.

This poll will drop further than Brady Quinn's draft position.

as ive stated many times, there are areas in pa and ohio where populism plays well.

however, both states are becoming more and more suburban.  populism doesnt play well in those areas.  i realize little casey won the philly suburbs, but that was mainly because he wasnt rick santorum.  period.

even my advocation of universal healthcare does not play well in suburbia.  their mindset is 'i have health care, why should i pay for the idle freeloaders?'

Then why did you keep saying those states were going to soundly reject Casey and Strickland because they are so anti-populist?

Really? I remember you saying that as stupid as so many of Santorum's views were, people in Pennsylvania would have such an extreme hatred of populism they'd consider Casey much worse.

Also Strickland won every county in the Cleveland metro, and every one in the Columbus metro except Union.

No.  The attitude is clearly "I have mine, screw  you and everyone else.  And don't talk to the neighbors.  I will sit in my prefabricated palace and get fat off of cheap processed food and bitch about poor people all day."

Uh, you're begining to sound like Opebo.

Now, while I do disagree with WM on many matters, there is no need to misrepresent his viewpoints.

WM is a liberal Republican, who supports government health care and opposes the right to keep and bear arms.

And might I ask where the hell do you live? Since I highly doubt any poster on the Atlas Forum is from the Ghetto and most of us are sheltered, suburbanite, middle or upper middle class high school and college age people, with a few exceptions that I know about.

Well excuse me for not knowing where he lived. That doesn't, of course, mean that he lives in an area that is poor and crime ridden but I digress as that is for him to say and for me not to speculate. I was just stating the fact that most of us on here fit the description that I stated above, with some exceptions some that I know of and others that I do not.

Yeah, I don't know what type of background he has either. Just pointing out that he's not from one of the type of places you described.

Of course I currently live in a "rough" neighborhood, spent the early part of my life in an actual ghetto, and very possibly will move to a real ghetto once out of college, and no one takes me seriously on that sort of thing.
