April 28, 2007

And one from the first one on January 6, 2007

This event was tremendous fun! I had such a great time!

Afterwards, my friends and I marched with Code Pink and others all the way from the beach to Nancy Pelosi's house. We carried signs and chanted and had a fun, rollicking time the whole way there. It was about a six mile march. At Speaker Pelosi's house we held a big rally and there were some excellent speakers. Good times!

Impeachment actions were held at over 100 locations today. Here is the latest email from the organizer of this one, Brad Newsham:

"Check out what we did!

www.beachimpeach.org

with video to follow soon, i'm told...

And I did NOT pay for it... this event cost somewhere between $2,000 and $2,500, I'm guesstimating.  Jim Reid's postcard donations buckets had almost exactly $1500 in them, and you folks stuffed $955 into my pocket! Thank you!

WHAT a day!

And there was a great crowd at Pelosi's afterwards, too...!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

brad
(it may be a week before anyone hears back from me...)"

I am really happy with how the event came off. It was all organized by one determined, visionary individual. That man deserves more than a pat in the back and a handshake for organizing this. He is being humble in his email, because he did spend thousands of his own, limited money putting it together. He is just a cab driver. And he is my hero today.

And more pictures from the impeachment party on the beach yesterday.

If you weren't there, you missed out on a great time!  Everyone was so happy to be there!  The band that came up from Santa Cruz to play was freaking awesome!

Glad you had a good time, because the opportunity for a party should never be missed.  But I can't help but feel bad for you that the whole purpose of the event was entirely futile.  Still, sunshine and sea air are good for you. Smiley

Nothing like a couple hundred pale homely attention whores gathering together on the beach, at least you all went outside for a day!

This was a good chance for the airforce to get in some strafing practice.

Too bad Pelosi doesn't seem quite as enthused as ya'll.  Otherwise she might be a little more receptive to a certain congressman from the Buckeye state who's current impeachment bill has 0 co-sponsors.

As far as I can tell, this is just an excuse for a bunch of like minded people to go to the beach.

Looks like a good time was had by all, except for maybe that middle-aged chick in the pink shirt.  She has that look that suggests she has really bad gas.  Hopefully this crowd wasn't nearly as destructive as the war protest crowd.  I remember that well.  We'd taken the train, about an hour from my apartment (Dublin/Pleasanton station), and as nearly as I could tell more folks were interested in getting high and meeting people (of the opposite or the same sex).  And it was all good.  But somewhere along the way it got ugly.  Really ugly.  Folks throwing big objects through windows and such.  It wasn't a complete riot, but the destruction was just enough to give the peaceniks a bad name.

This Impeach Bush group has confined itself to the beach, and my guess is that they'll mostly just pollute, which isn't ideal, but at least they're not throwing newspaper stands through the windows of the Korean stores.  Would be interesting if someone followed along with cameras to Pelosi's to see how destructive they got once they started whooping and hollering and drinking later in the day.

San Francisco is a nice place to hang out.  I remember many good times there.  Glad you had fun.  We used to run down to that same little spot of beach and chase the birds.  Too bad the water is so goddamned cold in California.  And it's like that all the way down to the tip at Cabo San Lucas.  Ah, well.  I give my last final exam on Wednesday morning, and then I'll be on a beach as well.  Albeit a much warmer one.  Though I like california's terrestial climate better, I still prefer the white sands and turquoise waters of the caribbean to the brown sands and black water of the Pacific.  Although caribbean islanders I have met don't like the US President any more than most Sanfranciscans do.

In the future, get yourself a photobucket.com account and just provide the links to the pictures.  There are just way too many big ones on here for the page to load in any reasonable time.

As far as the activity itself goes, I'm glad you had fun.  Too bad it amounts to nothing since you don't have any grounds for impeachment.

Oh, we could probably conjure up a blow job or something... that's grounds for impeachment.. right Republicans?

I dont know, Bush has done way more things that could be impeachable than Bush.
EX:
Illegal-Wiretapping (this one goes against the constitiution! Yay!)

Violating the geneva convention in reference to torture (not sure if this is technically an impeachable offense but it does anger me...)

Misleading the public into Iraq (This one is probably the worst)

The next one needs more explaining so I just kinda did a cut and paste:
 Impeachment for Violating International Law
George Bush has committed war crimes in violation of the UN Charter and the Nuremberg Charter.
Synopsis: Bush attacked Iraq, against the decisions of the United Nations, and thus violated the UN Charter. Planning and committing a war of aggression is a violation of the Nuremberg Charter. According to the US Constitution these international treaties are part of the "supreme Law of the Land". Bush has violated the Nuremberg Charter and the UN Charter and is, therefore, subject to impeachment.

UN & Nuremberg Charters part of "the supreme Law of the Land"
Article VI  of the US Constitution states that:
"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land;"
Because Bush violated International Laws that we agreed to by treaty, then he is also violating the supreme Law of the Land which is an impeachable offense. Note that it says "or which shall be made" so treaties signed after the Constitution was adopted are still covered.

Though while I believe that there are grounds for impeachment (at least much more than for Clinton), I do think it would just be a waste of time and money as well as being a big mistake for the Dems if they went through with it.

Basically
I = angry but practical dem.

Such international "laws" do not apply to the united states. Try again.
