The centre-right government has followed up their decision to scrap the wealth tax with the move to abolish the estate tax, which will be replaced by a low local fee, equal for everyone, and an increase in the tax on gains from selling the house. While the former was an excellent idea, the latter is laughably stupid and is getting criticized by experts. Of course, people are gonna like it, since it benefits most voters.

This is crazy right-wing extremist stuff, Gustaf!  What is going on in Sweden?  Replacing a tax on the extremely wealthy with a pol tax?! Amazing.

Wow, the US is actually more progressive than Sweden in this. Of course we already are with school vouchers.

Well, good and bad news.  Not really sure why they want a higher tax on capital gains, especially on a house.

Good - why punish people who make money.

Because money should be earned.  An individual should have the right to earn as much money as they can.  But to grant someone billions just for winning the "birth lottery" is ridiculous and defeats the purpose of capitalism.

Every society in history which promotes classism has failed.
