It looks as if Bernard Kerik will be indicted on tax evasion and wiretapping charges among other things.  Giuliani is very close to Kerik (and is godfather to his two oldest kids IIRC) and plugged him for Homeland Security chief although its likely he knew about Kerik's dances with the law.  (couldn't think of a better way to phrase it, that sounded gay)

Will Kerik hurt Giuliani by adding to the 'mob boss'/'urban cowboy' perception?

Yes, but not as much as his second wife and son will.

Nope.  They better do better than guilt by association.  Pretty weak.

I dunno. The timing of the indictment seems off. We're nine months away from Iowa; think voters (i.e. the media) will remember this?

The donors will and that primary is ongoing.

Giuliani has more serious problems.

He has liberal positions on many issues, which he is trying to hide.  It won't work in the long run.

He has a very abrasive personality, which will become more evident to the public over time.

Its gonna hurt his momentum now, but unless McCain or Romney, or even one of the other second/third tiers really take advantage of it and steal a few percent from him now, it will end up being nothing.

They only will if someone chooses to attack him about it in the primary (or the general, but that seems unlikely so far in the future), but that's the only way the public would hear about this anyway.

In itself?  Probably not, but the package will.  this, his social views, personal issues, his business dealings with Chavez.  All of that added together is really going to hurt him among GOP Pimary voters.

Giuliani is truly on his way to being the next Ronald Reagan.

But much of the evidence points to Rudy not knowing about Kerik's unsavory activites, So I'm going with guilty by assiocation.
