Usually the one announcing gets a small bump in the polls right after their announcement, but DeSantis’s was such a trainwreck that it may actually cause Trump’s lead to widen

No, but something tells me this isn’t going to erase his 30-40 point lead in the polls like some seem to believe…

The problem for Trump is that his polling lead is already quite huge to begin with.

No. Trump's already up there, and he's done so little since.

That's a pretty good "problem" to have.

I don't think there'll be much change. Trump lead seems to be ironclad and DeSantis has been running his phantom campaign for so long that I don't think he's gonna get much out of todays announcement (Disregarding the embarrassing fallout)

Slight bump for Trump. DeSantis running for President was largely already baked in to the polls, plus his announcement was such a disaster.

If there's a bump for anyone, it'll be someone like Scott.

Trump's numbers probably stagnate while DeSantis gets a small bump that quickly evaporates. That would be my guess as of today.

In typical Rob fashion, his announcement only plays to a niche audience. He didn't give a national address. He went on Twitter and Fox News to play up his candidacy.

Probably not for Trump, but I do think we could see some of the DeSantis support going to other candidates.
