I figured I'd test the idea that Republicans are more religious than Democrats.

Option 3 for me.

Sorry not enough room to include independents.

I'm a Republican and religious. I'm not extremely religious (ex: I'm not the type that prays the rosary and goes to mass EVERYDAY) but I'm certainly not in the "little or not religious" category. I would say that of these options I'm somewhat religious (pray, go to mass on the weekends, etc.)

Republican and completely non-religious.  In fact I honestly don't get religion.  Why?

Independent and, depending on how you define it, somewhat or very religious (nondenominational Christian).

Note that "Republican - Little or Not religious" is the leading answer right now Smiley

I would guess that the "self-views" of the Democrats and Republicans are very different. The Democrat who thinks of himself as "very" religious probably thinks that merely believing in God makes him very religious, while the Republican who classifies himself as very religious probably goes to church once or twice a week and lives his entire life as a Christian...not the abstract concept of a Christian that has dominated the 20th Century, but an actual born again Christian. This is quite common as members of the two parties have very, very different idea of what it means to be religious.

That's true. I think Republicans prioritize moral issues higher than Democrats do.

Agreed with the moral issues.

How Religious someone is should not be determined by how often they drag themselves to Church.

It seems there is no link...
Although maybe Republicans are putting the treshold for what constitutes "extremely religious" higher...
