OK old timers, it's the 1972 Democrat primary....George Wallace is NOT shot in Maryland.....he runs strong in the South as expected, pretty well in the Midwest, so so in the Mountain states and bad in liberal areas not effected by school busing. 

Overall second place.  He makes a good showing at the DNC but McGovern comfortably wins the nomination. Everything else is the same.

Does Wallace run again as a third party candidate? I think he does.  If so, how does he do???  I recently a George McGovern video suggesting he had a chance with Wallace as a 3rd party candidate stealing many Nixon voters in rust belt states and doing even stronger than 1968 in the south.
