I'm always interested in how alternate history/ parallel world projects handle Presidents. Is it the same guy, or is there some kind of weird twist? I wonder about is how these types of projects are going to look at the Biden presidency. It just seems that it could only happen under very specific circumstances, given how weird it is that he was the oldest major party nominee ever, and defeated an incumbent President, and won the Democratic primary as a white guy.

On the other hand, it seems there could have been different ways for him to become President, including winning the nomination younger, or going straight from Vice President.

So when we're reading stories about parallel worlds, will Joe Biden be their President?

A Biden 1992 presidency would be interesting

I think alternate histories concerned with politics will often fit him into the presidency and vice presidency in other times under other circumstances just because it's so plausible. I certainly do.

As for his election IOTL, Biden supporters claim he was inevitable in 2020 because of a weak bench, but I disagree. It was a crowded field but they were always going to unite behind one of the candidates to stop Sanders, and Biden happened to be the one without a prominent rival in his lane to damage him- Buttigieg, Warren, and Klobuchar had a lot of overlap and canceled each other out in the Midwest and Northeast, while Biden was guaranteed the South.

This, especially if Trump is the incumbent

Biden has had a political career spanning five decades. You could insert him at any point from 1980 to 2024 with minimal justification.

Maybe a Biden-Brown ticket so he still has a California running mate.

Maybe a DiFi who was elected Governor in 1990, so he can still have a female running mate.

Perfect, vs a Trump-Lugar ticket.

No 22nd amendment, Joe is elected in 1988 and re-elected in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and retires in 2020.
