For context: Hann is a former State Senator who was on track to become Senate Majority Leader after the GOP took the chamber in 2016... except he also lost his own seat that year. Jennifer Carnahan is the former MNGOP chair and widow of former Rep. Jim Hagedorn who ran for his seat in the special primary and came in third place with 8% and then was ousted from his chairwomanship over her ties to a child sex trafficker. Carnahan was replaced by Hann because apparently there was no one better who wanted the job.

Two days ago Carnahan filed a lawsuit against the MN GOP claiming their ouster of her and comments about her have harmed her reputation and ability to seek employment now: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2022/12/02/fierce-legal-fight-opens-between-exmngop-chair-carnahan-party

Which is pretty "LOL" since her ties to a child sex trafficker would probably be the reason for all that and her lawsuit is silly...but regardless here's more infighting and a very weak chair who could very well go soon. For the record there were a few challengers to him but one dropped out over family issues and other didn't collect enough signatures. Common sense would probably dictate that with his record and that disastrous showing this election he's probably not worth keeping but yeah they really couldn't get anyone better.

Also the MNGOP has always been pretty strung out financially, you might recall a couple years ago they hilariously were almost evicted from their headquarters because they had months of unpaid rent...so all this doesn't help.

Meanwhile the DFL is just sitting back and laughing.

The MN GOP, outside of the peculiar history of the DFL that I’ve addressed previously, failings are predominantly due to demographics. The white rurals, themselves educated primarily due to exceptionally fast uplifting to higher income levels, have not been taken advantage of for a long time thanks to the strong Scandinavian background of the Iron Range that’s made nationalization trends difficult, and made exceptionally difficult for the GOP to make inroads are the unionized Finnish descendants. Add to that a diverse yet strongly democratic metro area and difficulties establishing GOP strongholds anywhere relevant enough electorally, and this is the result.

I’m happy for this, yes; but it isn’t due to people changing their minds or the Democratic party generally making good decisions but moreso the unionized population, education rates, and the wrong type of whites being in Minnesota. Anyone seeing Minnesota and individuals over there, or the bad takes I see coming from Illinois once in a while with Pritzker, as a model should look carefully at the fundamentals.

The fact that the MNGOP could not capitalize on the Floyd murder and the national aftermath, in the epicenter, shows that the MNGOP should disband.

The reality is that Democrats handled it well statewide and federally as Trump was pouring oil on the flames, and they got rewarded through donations and implicit support.

If that's the case why did they lose seats in NY and FL?

Hochul is a disgusting candidate with no appeal, so naturally a high energy challenger would raise the vote and fill the even more awful Cuomo void for conservative Italians. Florida is Florida, I’ve written enough about it.

The Floyd murder got Democrats two senate seats and energized turnout across the board, as well as foiling any chance of Trump currying favors from Republican donors from holding power.

Also lost them 18 seats in House, but Fair enough. Dems should go with Delgado in 2026.

Democrats would have lost more without the enthusiasm and canvassing BLM got to their campaign
