Introduced by Altmire:

HR 372 (To direct the Federal Trade Commission to revise the regulations regarding the Do-not-call registry to prohibit politically-oriented recorded message telephone calls to telephone numbers listed on that registry)

Introduced by Bachmann:

HR 636 (To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to improve health care choice by providing for the tax deductibility of medical expenses by individuals.)

Introduced by Bilirakis (it wouldn't shock me if he was reintroducing his dad's bills):

HR89 (To amend title 10, United States Code, to extend eligibility for combat-related special compensation paid to certain uniformed services retirees who are retired under chapter 61 of such title with fewer than 20 years of creditable service.)

HR303 (To amend title 10, United States Code, to permit certain additional retired members of the Armed Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their disability and either retired pay by reason of their years of military service or Combat-Related Special Compensation and to eliminate the phase-in period under current law with respect to such concurrent receipt.)

HR446 (To enhance and further research into paralysis and to improve rehabilitation and the quality of life for persons living with paralysis and other physical disabilities, and for other purposes.)

HR704 (To amend title 38, United States Code, to reduce from age 57 to age 55 the age after which the remarriage of the surviving spouse of a deceased veteran shall not result in termination of dependency and indemnity compensation otherwise payable to that surviving spouse.)

Introduced by Boyda:

HR 476 (To amend title 5, United States Code, to make noncreditable for Federal retirement purposes any Member service performed by an individual who is convicted of any of certain offenses committed by that individual while serving as a Member of Congress, and for other purposes.) [Passed by the House, 431-0]

Introduced by Hare:

HR521 (To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2633 11th Street in Rock Island, Illinois, as the "Lane Evans Post Office Building".) [Passed by the House, 405-3]

Introduced by Mahoney:

H.RES.72 (Recognizing the work and accomplishments of Mr. Britt "Max" Mayfield, Director of the National Hurricane Center's Tropical Prediction Center upon his retirement)

Introduced by Patrick Murphy:

H.RES.97 (Providing for Operation Iraqi Freedom cost accountability)

Introduced by Adrian Smith:

H.RES.99 (Commending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln volleyball team for winning the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.)

Introduced by Welch:

HR48 (To redesignate the White Rocks National Recreation Area in the State of Vermont as the "Robert T. Stafford White Rocks National Recreation Area")

Introduced by Yarmuth:

H.RES.82 (Commending the University of Louisville Cardinals football team for their victory in the 2007 Orange Bowl) [Passed 408-1 in the House]

Eh.. it's a productive enough month for the House Freshmen.

Senate Freshmen have introduced the following bills

From Brown: S.RES.41 (A resolution honoring and the life and recognizing the accomplishments of Tom Mooney, president of the Ohio Federation of Teachers)

From Cardin: S.137 (A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide additional beneficiary protections)

From Sanders: S.309 (A bill to amend the Clean Air Act to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, and for other purposes.)

From Webb: S.22 (A bill to amend title 38, United States Code, to establish a program of educational assistance for members of the Armed Forces who serve in the Armed Forces after September 11, 2001, and for other purposes.)

But yeah.. nothing too earthshattering.

But three of them have already passed bills though the House.

The memorial/post office and congratulatory bills shouldn't count as real legislation.

New Freshman Legislation

from Vern Buchanan:

H.J.RES.21 (Proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States) [not the only Balanced Budget Amendment]

from Jerry McNarney:

H.R.700 (To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to extend the pilot program for alternative water source projects)

from Gus Bilirakis:

H.R.722 (To increase the maximum Pell Grant)

from Steve Cohen:

H.R.753 (To redesignate the Federal building located at 167 North Main Street in Memphis, Tennessee, as the "Clifford Davis/Odell Horton Federal Building")

Congrats to McNerney and Cohen on their first bills

H.RES.82 (Commending the University of Louisville Cardinals football team for their victory in the 2007 Orange Bowl) [Passed 408-1 in the House]

OK, I like the guy, but I think he should've picked something of just a LITTLE more importance for his first legislation introduced.

It doesn't.  I just checked, haha.

They beat Wake Forest in North Carolina.

No, that would be Virginia Foxx (R-NC-5), who represents Wake Forest University.
