Why aren't the D's touting this as a pretty decent tax cut for the middle class coming in months?

Republicans: Were gonna rip social security and Medicare away from senior citizens.

Democrats: how can we refocus the conversation to Latinx birthing people? Also let’s pretend crime doesn’t happen lest we show our unconscious bias towards marginalized groups.

Because this is tied to inflation so it's not really anything to brag about.

They shift every year, it's just more this year because of inflation.

Agree, but it's an easy thing to say to people who say the admin doesn't care about inflation. "They're letting you keep more of your money next year!"

The only reason to believe that this is representative of the Democrats is if you spend 12 hours a day watching Fox News.

I know it’s not true, but Democrats do very little to combat that image.

It adjusts every year and the only reason its more than other years is because inflation was so high. And inflation is a much worse form of taxation anyway since it taxes not only your income but also your cash and cash equivalent assets. But it may play well among uninformed voters, the types who say nonsense like "oh no I got a raise and am in a new tax bracket and so I take home less money ".

Indeed. Most people here seem to be failing the assignment. You take anything you can and run with it because the other side will attack you for anything bad that happens. And stop explaining, because explaining doesn't matter anymore. Republicans are so much better at this than Democrats. If you can package it in a 10-second soundbite or a 30-second ad, go for it (and if you can't, no one's going to pay attention).

Biden should probably mention it in his governing role because maybe some don't realize it or that it's a lot more next year.
