Quote
Former President Obama said he is concerned that lines of communication between the White House and the Kremlin are “as weak as they have been” in a long time.

Obama said in a Friday interview on the podcast “Pod Save America,” which is co-hosted by former Obama administration staffers, that there was a sense even during some tense moments of the Cold War that both sides could pick up a phone and work through diplomatic channels to send “clear signals.”

“I think that we’re now dealing with a type of Russian regime that is actually even more centralized, even more isolated and closed off,” he said.

“I think [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has consolidated decision making to a degree that we haven’t seen even during the Soviet era,” he continued.

Obama said the U.S. is finding ways to reestablish some of the communication that has been lost but that lines of communication remain important.

Well, talking to Putin is a waste of time at this point after many efforts, especially by Macron and Scholz, were totally fruitless. The guy is committed to continue this war for much longer because he can't pull out now and nobody in his machine tells him the truth how badly things are going. If anything, talks just give him more legitimacy.

More important are lines of communication between the military to prevent any unintended incident that could lead to a wider conflict.

That was kind of inevitable after 2016, regardless of who was elected—although that point, like most else, was moot after the launch of the Special Military Operation. Different world.

After 2014, this was inevitable.

At the beginning of the war there was a chance that we could of put NATO Troops in or an air war but now that Russia took over Eastern Ukraine they will use Nukes to defend that's why everyone was calling on NATO to supply troops at the beginning it would have stopped Putin NATO isnt US troops it's UK troops if they had UK pilots they would have defended Eastern Ukraine but of course it's too late Putin annexed East Ukraine

I would have put UK pilots in the air Putin wasn't gonna use nukes to blow up the world he would have used nukes to blow up Ukraine a military analyst, that's tragic but it wouldn't have been us, do you honestly believe Putin would of attack US and UK and they are in the UN located in NY they would have blew up their own ambassador
