From Punchbowl News, so take it with a grain of salt.

Bit indiscreet to loudly announce it in public, but he's pretty much just saying what everyone already knows to be true.

I get that the fundamentals are not in Democrats' favor, but with Pelosi, I sigh in frustration every time she says things like "[the United States] needs a big, strong Republican Party" or dismisses the Green New Deal as "the Green Dream or whatever" - these things show just how out of touch she is with Democratic voters.

40% chance to hold the House is a pretty generous estimate lol, even though his job is to say Democrats are winning no matter what.

I mean, it's nothing that everyone doesn't already know. It's a nothingburger.

"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Schumer pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious."

Lol Schumer telling Members in private that Ds would have a 40 percent chance of holding the House today when the election is a month away, if anything, is a good sign for the party. And him warning Kelly that the race will tighten is a nothingburger, since, well, duh, Kelly is not going to win by 7 points.

Feels like we reliably get leaked stories about Schumer predicting Democratic defeats "privately in public" a few weeks before elections.

Now that you mention this I do believe he said in December that the senate would hold thanks to Cunningham “unzipping his pants” and Collins’ “deceptive senate votes”. This is probably just left wing frenzy material, especially the part about Kelly. “I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for these meddling billionaire republicans with zero political sense .”

We knew this already.  I'd rather Democrats House majority be "in trouble" than how it looked in early 2022.  Because at that point it looked like a dead majority walking facing a big Republican wave.

As long as he doesn't feel like his position as Majority Leader isn't in trouble, I can't be upset by this. The Senate is basically the ballgame this year. If we win the House, against all odds, that would be extraordinary, of course, but we probably shouldn't get too greedy with what we want to happen this year.

If Democrats keep the Senate and the election deniers mostly lose wherever they are running where they'll have the most influence, I'll be content enough.

A 40% chance is better than what most people or experts think. This isn't really bad news, if anything it's a sign that we may not have another polling mirage if Democratic internals, which Schumer is obviously privy to, are matching public polling.

Let's hope so. We finally got a democratic president who abandoned the party's long held strategy of always surrendering, it only makes sense that he be joined by a democratic speaker who also thinks winning is good

What are you talking about? Pelosi is a phenomenal Speaker who has held together a tiny coalition skillfully and passed basically all of the Democratic agenda, even what couldn't make it through the Senate. Who do you think would be more effective than her?
