I'll be accompanying my friend who will be canvassing tmrw for Beto.

Are there any tips or things I should know before going ?

More specific advice will depend on whether you're going to be canvassing in a rural, suburban, or urban area.

But general practice for anywhere you go: wear good walking shoes, make sure your phone is fully charged (bring a portable charger if you can), bring water, if a house is giving you bad vibes then trust your gut and don't risk your safety.

Beware of dogs, know the difference between a friendly or aggressive dog. Especially an issue in Texas are guns, some right wing men with smaller genitalia are known to brandish their weapons.

Canvassing was fun but the data sheet they gave us was garbage. It kept claiming that houses with multiple pick up trucks had beto supporters. One of the frat guys said " we're all voting for abbot and there's 8 of us before slamming the door in my face". We did get a surprisingly positive response given it was a deeply conservative student housing complex.
