All over FB, I’m seeing posts along the lines of women need to stop having sex with men, men need vasectomies, sex with men isn’t worth the risk anymore, and other stuff

Women seem to angry at men over the overturning of Roe V Wade, but the majority of men support abortion rights

Why are they mad at us?

Many of the more outspoken opponents of Roe v Wade were / are conservative women….Phyllis Schfly and such

Although lots of women are pro-life, and pro-life women are very fiercely pro-life, the same is true of pro-choice women. IIRC men are a few percent more pro-life than women, and in general people are very, very bad at looking at individuals separately from the averaged traits of groups they are members of, and vice versa. Combine this with the fact that women are the ones getting pregnant and having abortions and it's easy to see how this happens.

Facebook rhetoric is a dumpster fire regardless. Pay no attention to it.

Virtually every law restricting abortion in the United States has been written and enforced by men, and 5/6 of the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe were men.

99% of the women you're talking about are not going to blame a pro-choice man for what's happened here. Trying to insist that you're "one of the good ones" is just going to make you look like an asshole who doesn't really have empathy for what they're going through right now.

They don’t speak for roughly 100 million men.

So shut up and get a vasectomy basically?

FWIW, I think the vasectomy stuff is a counterargument. Like they're saying men should get a vasectomy is a better argument than women should have to carry a baby they don't want to. But I don't think most of them are advocating for forced vasectomies.

But I do get tired of reading all that stuff, over and over and over.

This is why, look at who makes up our government and the policies and laws they have passed.

White male minority rule pervades politics across the US, research shows

State legislatures are still very white — and very male

The demographics in statehouses have changed. But not as fast as the populations legislators represent.

White men represent 30% of the population but 62% of officeholders, dominating both chambers of Congress, 42 state legislatures and statewide roles across the nation, the analysis shows.

By contrast, women and people of color constitute 51% and 40% of the US population respectively, but just 31% and 13% of officeholders, according to the research by the Reflective Democracy Campaign, shared exclusively with the Guardian.

According to the Brookings Institute, "politics remains a game for men." And if this is true, then doesn't it seem logical to say that the state our politics is in, is because of men. The article goes on to say that women are not encouraged like men are to run for office. Blame men seems to be a logical conclusion to the Roe v Wade decision.

Quote
As the 2022 midterm election season gets underway, speculation is already mounting that it’s going to be another banner year for female candidates. Early reports suggest that Black women and Republican women are especially poised to make historic gains.

But make no mistake, even if 2022 is another so-called “Year of the Woman,” politics is still a man’s game.

Quote
But we’ve been studying women and men’s interest in running for office for decades. And overall, women today are just as unlikely as women were 20 years ago to express interest in running for office.

Blaming men for this seems misplaced. What would make more sense to me is:
Women running for elected office are just as likely to succeed in their bids as men are. What is happening, and has been happening for a very long time, is that women and men are both widely interested in political issues, but women are likelier to self-select into activism (especially on women-focused issues like abortion), while men are likelier to self-select into being candidates and the like.

No need to render this into a battle of the sexes, and no need to cast men as worse merely for wanting to be involved in elected office at higher rates than women do. There are not many countries with parliaments or legislatures that are around 50% women anyway; the countries that do are more balanced in terms of the demographics of their elected political classes in general (yes, there is nothing innate to having a majority-male legislature - these things can be cultural). This way of looking at it also ignores that part of what power is derived from in our society is in fact held by activists. That is, women wielding power, in the way they prefer it, in a space they are the majority in.

You see this on both sides of the political divide. We should not diminish this side of politics and selectively look at it through a specific lense that time and time again gets the same result. That's the exact opposite of intellectual curiosity.

The media WANTS men and women to be at their throats so that they can push divisive gender war things with less pushback. We have an obligation to push back on that in turn and construct a more functional public square with assistance from all stakeholders, men and women alike.

Because abortion would less of an issue if men could get pregnant. It would most likely be safe and legal.

At least you, unlike most members of your party, know men can't get pregnant.

7/7 of the Supreme Court justices who decided on Roe in 1973 were men.

Respectfully, OP, have you created any threads that aren't rooted in white male grievance politics?  Look, I'm a white guy and I can be critical of certain sentiments on the left sometimes, but there are occasions where I can also recognize that they really don't matter all that much.
