Bingo Smiley When you see the picture above its easier to see why. I'm leaning over and saying something to the person who has fallen over. My face is a bit different now as you can guess Smiley

what kind of school did you attend?

A Jesuit run fee-paying school, though I attended due to a semi-scholarship scheme they had and thanks to my parents and the school.

Aww... you look so cute!

Nice uniform!  You look all sophisticated in it, especially in the first picture.

Don't pretty much all schools in Britain have a school uniform, public or private?

No wonder you were so rebellious....Tongue

LOL, perhaps. Wasn't just me, though. Some kids burned their uniforms once we didn't have to wear them anymore.

Yes they do at least up until the end of GCSEs (exams taken aged 16).

They seem to be out of fashion one minute and in the nezt. Because I attended a private school they kept up the whole blazer, colours and houses tradition (and we had to wear it until we left!) Other schools 'dressed down' - shirt and tie or polo-shirt etc and some dispensed with them altogether, but there has been a move by parents in particular to re-adopt them. It is cost effective, rather than having teenagers demanding to wear something new every day or respond to whats fashionable and so on which can stretch parents budgets and put pressure on kids.

A school uniform disguises class barriers and income differences because everyone wears the same.

Amen. I hated them at school, but in retrospect they were a good idea because no-one was comparing the latest cool clothes and making the less well-off kids feel left out.

Basically every school has uniforms here. The public schools basically justy have pants and a shirt or a dress; private schools, and some public schools, have the whole kit and caboodle...woolen blazers (really impractical in summer, but they look good, shirts, ties, hats (sometimes), pants, socks and shoes. Maybe shorts for summer, and dresses for the girls.
