First I'll turn in this set of cards:

Put all 17 reinforcements on TN and attack TN-MO-KS-NE, do-or-die.

The final map:

General Gabu, your mission was to destroy the Red Army, led by General Blerpiez.
You have successfully completed the objective and won!

Are you going to reveal what the other missions were?  I must say, I didn't think that Gabu had that one.

I'll hold my victory party in conjunction with Everett's.

Everyone will be required to pay for their own food and drinks, though, in homage of how totally cheap that victory was.

Out of curiosity, what were the other missions?

Akno21: Conquer the Pacific and Midwest regions, and a third region of your choice, and hold them all at once.

Gabu: Destroy the Red Army (led by General Blerpiez).  If another player does this before you, then you must conquer at least 28 states instead.

Yates: Conquer the South, New England and Pacific regions, and hold them all at once.

Blerpiez: Conquer the Southeast and Plains regions, and hold them both at once.

Milk & Cereal: Destroy the Purple Army (led by General Akno21).  If another player does this before you, then you must conquer at least 28 states instead.

Hughento: Conquer and hold 21 states of your choice, and populate each with at least 2 battalions.

Congratulations, Gabu!

Rats!  In my next turn, I was planning to capture the Pacific Region.  Had that happened, I would have been victorious!

Nonetheless, it was a lovely game, and I enjoyed playing with you all.  Thank you, Joe and congratulations, Gabu!

I thought for sure someone was going to kill off the Red Army after my second-to-last turn, given how few people he had left, which would have basically ended my chance at winning.  I was shocked to find him still sitting there untouched as my next turn came around.

I basically overextended myself, trying to get as many states as possible.

The whole destroy armies thing isn't a very good mission, I think. When I've played Risk I've always found that any player who gets someone else with the mission to destroy them never has a chance as they're getting so harassed all the time. Usually, someone else with a normal mission always wins.

That 'if someone else destroys it first' part is missing from the German rules as well! They got 'if that's your own colour' instead. If someone else had destroyed Blerpiez, under German rules Gabu still would have won.

You need to get an American version of the game.  Your version seems easier.

Hmm, that would be interesting; it would kind of make people rather wary of killing off other players. Tongue
