I’d guess it’s probably equal amounts left right and unengaged. Like the more ironically engaged, my impression is you’ll be less and less engaged.
Then what counts as a Nu metal fan? Well I was like a 14 year old nu metal fan, Slipknot SOAD RATM Tool. Of course this blends in with industrial alt and rap metal, but I’d say that’s the average age of a fan.
So where are these guys today? Well the music has a range of fans, but probably what’s common is a broad counter cultural attitude and thinking other people are stupid. Say one cohort likes buttrock, another cohort likes indie and alt rock, another hyper pop and hip hop, another likes hardcore and edm, some just like to top 40s oldies or nothing at all.
So with all this stuff I’d say it’s basically a crap shoot. Maybe 40-30-30 R-D-non voter. Generally punk and classic rock are a mixed bag, because anyone can be socialized to like music or most other popular art while ignoring ideological inconsistencies one way or the other (if they’re acknowledged in the first, take Paul Ryan and RATM).
lol. Tom Morello, of course, wasn't too pleased.
