The political divide between the genders has grown stronger in recent elections, with Republicans having message of power, freedom, and rugged individual, and responsibility that tends to appeal to men and Democrats a message that tends to appeal to women when it comes to taking care of those around us and doing what is best for the greater community.

According to 2020 exit polls, men were about Trump + 8 and women were nearly Biden + 15!

But surely this divide can only get so big for several reasons.

Firstly, men and women are equally likely to be born into other circumstances that shape political beliefs. For instance, black men still heavily support the Democratic party and will likely continue to do so going forwards even if the gap closes a bit. Rural white women still generally support Republicans.

Another factor is that in order for our society to work men and women HAVE to be able to get along. You may live in a community where there is a negligible black or LGBT population but no matter what you will encounter people of both biological genders.

I kinda have hope that this gender divide could potentially help reduce polarization and toxicity a bit because men and women seek to understand eachother in life even if they have different beliefs or values. It's a way to introduce people to a different set of values they may have otherwise writte4n off entirely. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part, but could be true for some segment of the population.
