Tom Cotton was correct , but sadly Trump didn’t have the courage to do what former President George HW Bush did in a similar situation because Trump is a coward at the end of the day

It takes a very special kind of person to reach the conclusion that the Trump admin was too soft on protesters in 2020.

All Trump did was tweet mean things but he didnt take any action unlike HW Bush back in 1992.

“Burning down a target is the EXACT same as ransacking the US Capitol with the plan to kill any politicians you find, especially the Vice President”

-Republicans, unironically

I think these sentences were justified as well but I unlike many red avies on here didnt make excuses for J6 while they did make excuses for the Summer 2020 riots.

I will say this and that is unless you believe that both January 6 rioters and Summer 2020 Rioters deserve the sentences they are getting, then you are a hack.

Trying to overthrow the government is different than street rioting.

Republicans 100% disagree with you.

( Unless for some bizarre reason Biden supporters try to overturn Trump's election win on Jan 06 2025, and some notable right wing street rioting happens in the next 2 years. Then that position will no longer be convenient for Republicans, so they'll flip flop and swear up and down that they believe the exact opposite of what they say they believe now. )

17 years is way too long for a crime which doesn't involve bodily harm (rape, torture, murder etc.). You can't complain about over-incarceration in America and celebrate this (as someone else said, BLM rioters deserve prison time more than this). A more reasonable system would have him serve no more than 5 years but with additional penalties ( such as a lifetime ban on running for public office since they evidently don't care about the democratic process) and maybe being banned from ever getting within a hundred feet of the capitol or whitehouse.

Yes, who doesn't engage in a little violent effort to overthrow the peaceful transition of power in America now and again? Roll Eyes

Bringing up 2020 protesters in a Jan 6th thread is like bringing up unpaid parking tickets in a thread about carjackings.

"Btw both of these cases involve crimes involving cars and you have to remember that as well, the red av hacks will defend this, but both of them should pay the price for the laws that they broke"

Dem posters on here started to argue why it’s ok they weren’t sentenced . Just say “they should have and are but this is off topic”

Many many individuals who individually committed crimes rising out of and usually after - 20/20 BLM protests were in fact arrested and convicted. The difference is twofold. First off, Republicans are the only ones decrying how January 6th and Trump prosecutions are purely politically motivated or bad precedent.  Secondly, you are conflating Criminal activities which were almost entirely individual Jack holes acting on their own and contrary to the message folks like March protesters and biden. Yes, I'm sure if you go down the interwebs you'll probably find some isolated remark from the head of one of a billion little local BLM chapters who said something instigating violence, but the difference between that and January 6 is it's the exception of the rule. On the other hand, you have violence being whipped up by highest level of Republicans right down to most specifically the president of the United States himself, who remember had previously multiple times told crowds at his rallies that he pay their legal bills for physically assaulting any counter protesters.

So kindly spare us from the both sides garbage.
