Little Maddy Boy is having a great week!

Quote
EXCLUSIVE — Rep. Madison Cawthorn may have violated federal insider trading laws as he hyped up an alleged pump-and-dump cryptocurrency scheme, multiple watchdog groups told the Washington Examiner.

On Dec. 29, the beleaguered North Carolina congressman posed at a party with James Koutoulas, a hedge fund manager and the ringleader of the Let's Go Brandon cryptocurrency, a meme coin set up in the wake of the chant mocking President Joe Biden.

"LGB legends. ... Tomorrow we go to the moon!" Cawthorn, who has stated publicly he owns the cryptocurrency, posted on Instagram in response to the picture posted on Koutoulas's Instagram page.

The next day, LGBCoin did exactly as the lawmaker predicted.

NASCAR driver Brandon Brown announced on Dec. 30 that the meme coin would be the primary sponsor of his 2022 season, causing LGBCoin's value to spike by 75%. Brown's statement featured comments from Koutoulas, who was pictured with Cawthorn just a few hours prior.

Multiple watchdog groups told the Washington Examiner that Cawthorn's Dec. 29 Instagram post suggests the lawmaker may have had advanced nonpublic knowledge of LGBCoin's deal with Brown. The watchdogs said the post, combined with Cawthorn's statement that he owns LGBCoin, warrants an investigation from the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission to determine whether the lawmaker violated federal insider trading laws.

Madison Cawthorn is such a joke he's not even funny anymore. He stopped being funny a while back, and is now a pathetic, unlikeable loser who will likelier than not be out of office this time next year.

I'm sure lots of Reps and Sens do this sort of thing.  I'm sure lots of them go to wild parties that are about varying degrees of Sex and Drugs and Rock "n" Roll.  I live in a world where even Born Again Christian elected officials have affairs with their staffers, view pornography, etc.  Cawthorn's hardly unique in this.  But he IS unique in tattling on others, then not really going through to the next step by naming faces and places.  He IS unique in alienating Kevin McCarthy.  He IS unique in being viewed as an individual that is a threat to rat others out.  So HIS sins are going to be outed.  If needed, phony crap will be made up about him; it'll never be proven, but it will be enough to end his Congressional career and destroy his credibility to where he won't be able to effectively go on offense against those that he may have some dirt on.

I feel like it's more parsimonious to just say that Cawthorn is bad at his job. He went to Congress to represent western North Carolina, and that requires relationships with other members; if he can't develop those then his role is a failure. If his personal goal is uncovering others' scandals and inappropriate behavior, then that's fine -- that's in everyone's interest, western North Carolina included -- but he isn't doing that either. He should name names, or legislate, but right now he's not doing either and it's clearly not working.

Cawthorn is truly over his head.  He doesn't realize that being a Representative is more than voting the correct way.

He didn't 100% any video games when he was in college. He must have it high on some kind of bucket list.

I’ve seen on tik tok people saying all this is a hit on him (not denying he’s guilty tho) for snitching about the cocaine orgies

This is the guy who lied about not being able to go to the Naval Academy cause he was hit by a car, he literally is a compulsive liar who got into congress on dumb luck

Apparently, there isn't anything that Cawthorn hasn't done. If it can be done by a human being, Cawthorn has at least tried it.

How dare you dig up ancient history from his early 20s?  He's 26 now.  That stuff was a lifetime ago!

Reminds me of Aaron Coleman saying "lol why are you digging stuff up from high school?" It was 5 years ago

And that, right there, is why the comparisons between him and AOC will never hold up.

For all her faults and whackier moments, AOC is by and large a down-the-line Democrat, and has moments of incredible shrewdness. She's also taken the time to cultivate relationships with similarly left-wing members of Congress and is on good terms with the majority of the CPC and the Democratic caucus as a whole.

Cawthorn was parachuted in because the Republicans wanted their own AOC, except he's turned into . . .  well, a professional scandal machine.

Don't think it really matters when in your life the scandal happened, but some of the sutff being dug up really is pathetic. Like I don't care if he wore lingerie or (consensually) had his hand on a guy's crotch. It's nothing no matter who it is or how old they are.

I think they are. And now the GOP establishment wants to destroy Cawthorn. I'm glad he's probably going to survive the primary (albeit likely with <40% of the vote).
