Human error gave the Democrat 100 votes by accident on election night.

But Simmons got given 40 votes in another error. Well, it's important that they count every vote regardless of who is currently winning. Of course Republicans will disagree with that statement (Florida 2000, anyone?).

As of 8pm it was 66 votes.  As of 11:30 I'm told it is over 100 again for Courtney.

It really bothers me that every time there is a recount, in any election, the vote totals change.

Is it too much to ask that our votes be counted accurately the first time?

I'm hoping more votes come in favor for Simmons.  But I'm just glad that ditz Diane Farrell didn't win over here in the 4th.

As a Republican, I second that.

we really need more competent people running our elections.

here in boston i here that many people had to vote with vietnamese language ballots, because they ran out of english ballots.

that is what patronage breeds.  incompetence.

NORWICH — Second Congressional District challenger Joe Courtney has apparently picked up another three votes, bringing the unofficial count now to a 90-vote lead over three-term incumbent Republican Congressman Rob Simmons.

The three new votes comes from an adjustment made to the Glastonbury recount that originally reported Courtney losing five votes. The adjustment brings that loss back to two — returning three votes to the Courtney column in the unofficial margin count.

Stonington officials are in the process of counting more than 600 absentee ballots, and Old Lyme officials are continuing their recount using the new optical scanners. Ledyard began its recount at 2 p.m.

Yeah, the Democrat has led for long enough. Can't we get SCOTUS to just end the recount now?

I don't see the reason for sarcasm, people should save the American public and taxpayers the expense of a recount and just accept vote totals as they are

Not a HUGE Farrell fan but she'd be preferable to the warmonger Shays.  It is a shame that an otherwise good man would have to go and bet an aweful warmongering terrorist like that. =(

Democrat Joe Courtney is the victor over Republican Rep. Rob Simmons in a U.S. House race, according to results of a roller-coaster recount that stretched nearly a week and uncovered significant vote-counting flaws.

Recounts showed that Courtney won by 91 votes, according to results tabulated by town clerks. His election-nigh margin had been 167. Nearly 250,000 votes were cast.

Wow, that's amazing.

I'm really glad they did the full recount. It's only fair.

And we win by 91 votes.

A landslide compared to Florida 2000.

Pelosi better give Courtney lots of pork so he can surive a challenge by Simmons in 2008. Of course, it'll be really tough for Simmons to beat an incumbent Courtney in a presidential year.

Simmons will have a statement tomorrow. It might not be a concession.

My girl put in a ton of hours for Courtney.  Easily got those 91 votes.  I'm so proud of her. =)
