But transphobia is a spectrum, and you can be transphobic to some extent while still thinking that trans women are women. Transphobia is a moral failing. "Trans women are women" is a definitional statement. And now we're back to legitimate vs. illegitimate reasons for dumping someone. If I dump my girlfriend because I found out she's a Republican, that's more morally acceptable than dumping her because I found out she used to have a penis, but the difference in moral acceptability doesn't mean that I'm denying the trans woman's womanhood and not the Republican woman's womanhood.
It's disingenuous to pretend that political affiliation and birth genitals are comparable in this discussion.  Nobody has ever claimed a person was not their gender dud to their political party, but lots of people, i.e. transphobes, deny that people are their gender due what genitals a person is born with.

If someone is perfectly compatible with a trans person in every way — including sexually, as this is a hypothetical concerning a post-op trans person — and doesn't want children, and then they dump the trans person upon learning that they're trans, I call that transphobia, and you agree I have a case in calling it that. If the cis person in question is a straight man and the trans person is a woman, I do think that part of the man's transphobia is that he sees his own heterosexuality as threatened if he continues to be involved with trans person. The only way a straight man could feel his heterosexuality is threatened is if he feels thinks a trans woman is not really a woman.

I don't think it's that complicated, lol. Most likely he would prefer to date someone of the opposite sex, given that's what his sexual orientation is geared towards.

It's both really. I don't think the average straight man is any more likely to date a trans man than a trans woman. Or is that a misread by me?

I would agree, assuming we're talking about trans men who are openly trans and have transitioned to some extent.

But in the case of trans women they're typically disguising female secondary sex characteristics so that would also explain why heterosexual men my not be attracted to them.

That's just the ones you notice not passing. When you remember that around 1/300 to 1/200 of people are trans but way, way less than that fraction of people you see are obviously trans, it becomes clear that they're everywhere and you just don't realize it.

Every time you go to a grocery store or Walmart, there are probably more than 200 people in there, but I bet it's really rare if ever that you notice a trans person. Every time you're in a large crowd, say a football game, there are a bunch of trans people there that you never realize.

I meant to say trans men not trans women.

Did not expect this to become a 7+ page thread

Did not expect the "have sex with me, bigot!" argument to show up.

It didn't?
