The language of the 22nd amendment states one can only be elected president for two terms, not that they are confined to two terms. Ex. if LBJ won the nom in 1968, he would have served ~9 years. Completing JFK's term + 2 terms unto himself. And then assuming we haven't butterfly effected the whole thing (we most certainly have) died two days after leaving office. There is language regarding someone serving over half a term being barred from running, but once again this is being barred from being elected, not being president.

So if one was to nominate Bill Clinton for vice president, win, and then have the president resign, in theory Bill Clinton could serve indefinitely. So long as every 4 years there is technically a new president, even if only serving for a week, hour, nanosecond, etc. Our own Dmitry Medvedev, but even more absurd.

There will be consequences if the "president" does not oblige in relinquishing power to Bill. The last time someone made a power grab for the role like that was Aaron Burr, and he suffered dearly because of those choices: he died in Staten Island.

Why Bill Clinton over I dunno, Barack Obama? Bill Clinton. Bill. William Jefferson Blythe III. Comeback kid.

Bill may consider retiring at 110 years old. There will be great pressure for him not to though: the people need him. Otherwise, rinse & repeat.

The last time we could have conceivably had an inkling of a post-22A Bill Clinton comeback has long since passed

Those ineligible to the office of the presidency are also ineligible to be Vice President.  Bill Clinton, Obama and George W. Bush are not eligible to be elected/serve as Vice President.
